Install

    Open the .dmg

    Double-click NoteOwl-1.0.1.dmg in your Downloads folder.

    Drag NoteOwl to Applications

    Drop the NoteOwl icon onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.

    Open NoteOwl

    Launch it from Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple.

After you open it

    Grant the permissions

    Onboarding walks through each one and explains why it is needed: Microphone, to hear you; Accessibility, to type where your cursor is; Input Monitoring, so the fn key works; and Screen & System Audio Recording, to hear the other side of a call. You can skip any of them and grant it later.

    Start dictating

    Tap the fn key, speak, and tap it again to stop. Dictation is free and unlimited.

  3. 03
    Try Pro

    Choose “Start 7-day Pro trial” to capture meetings and build your memory — no card needed.

Already bought Pro?

Open NoteOwl, click … next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose License…, sign in with the email you bought with, and choose “Activate this Mac”. Your purchase is found from that address — there is no key to keep track of.

Is there anything else to download?
After install, NoteOwl downloads its on-device AI models once — about 8 GB (a little more for some languages). Keep around 10 GB free. After that it works offline.
