What's the difference between NoteOwl Free and Pro?
Free covers everything that starts with your own voice. Pro adds meetings, recordings you import, and the intelligence built on them: summaries, memory, Chat, People and Commitments. Both use the same on-device AI models.

NoteOwl Free needs no account. The trial and NoteOwl Pro sign in with your email address, because your email holds your licence.
How do I try NoteOwl Pro for free?
Start the 7-day trial inside NoteOwl. It needs your email address but no card, and it unlocks every NoteOwl Pro feature on this Mac. You can start it once per account and once per Mac.
- In the NoteOwl sidebar, click a NoteOwl Pro screen, such as Meeting Scribe or Chat.
- Type your email address in the Your email field and click Continue.
- Type the code NoteOwl emails you in the Code from your email field and click Verify.
- Click Start 7-day Pro trial — no card required. The NoteOwl Pro screens unlock.
If you're signed in, NoteOwl also offers the trial once on its own, after your first dictation, as Try Pro for 7 days. Choosing Continue with Free there doesn't use up the trial.
When the trial ends, NoteOwl returns to Free and the Pro screens lock again. Your recordings, transcripts and notes stay yours and stay on your Mac.
How much does NoteOwl Pro cost?
NoteOwl Pro costs $79, once. It's a perpetual licence for one Mac, not a subscription, so there is nothing to renew.
Buy it inside NoteOwl, signed in with your email address. Click Buy NoteOwl Pro — $79 on any NoteOwl Pro screen, or open the account menu (…) at the bottom of the sidebar and choose License…. If you've paid and NoteOwl Pro isn't on, sign in there with the email address you paid with and choose Activate this Mac.

Common questions
Is NoteOwl Free free forever?
Yes. NoteOwl Free has no time limit and no cap on dictation. Dictating into any app, voice notes and exporting your own words stay free, with no account. Only the NoteOwl Pro features need the trial or a licence.
Is NoteOwl Pro a subscription?
No. NoteOwl Pro is a one-time purchase of $79 for a perpetual licence on one Mac. There is no renewal and nothing to cancel.
Does NoteOwl Pro use better AI models than NoteOwl Free?
No. NoteOwl Free and NoteOwl Pro use the same on-device AI models, so dictation works the same in both. NoteOwl Pro unlocks features such as meetings, summaries and Chat, not a different model.
What happens to my recordings when the NoteOwl Pro trial ends?
They stay on your Mac. When the trial ends, NoteOwl returns to Free and the Pro screens lock, but your recordings, transcripts and notes stay yours. Export all data in Settings → Memory saves everything to a file on NoteOwl Free too.
Install NoteOwl and set it up
Download NoteOwl from noteowl.ai, drag it to Applications and open it. Setup asks for four permissions, then downloads the on-device AI models once.
