How it works

How do you get Spanish subtitles for a Chinese video?

Drop the video here: the page expects Mandarin speech and writes Spanish. It transcribes the Chinese, translates each line, and fits the Spanish into subtitles on the Chinese timing. That is how to translate a Chinese video to Spanish without a subtitle editor.

  1. 1

    Add the Chinese video

A lecture, a product video, a vlog in Mandarin: MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, 3GP or WebM.

  2. 2

    Chinese, then Spanish

The speech is transcribed and translated, for up to 30 minutes of each video.

  3. 3

    Download the Spanish SRT

Or VTT. The Chinese subtitles are a click away under Original.

How is Mandarin speech picked up?

Cleanly, in our language test, which scored Chinese per character because it is written without spaces. The Spanish subtitles are translated from that transcript, so check the Chinese under Original when a Spanish line looks off.

Do Spanish subtitles need more room than Chinese ones?

Yes, about a third more. Ten Chinese test sentences came to 311 characters and their Spanish to 1,089. Spanish lines are longer (42 characters against 16), so the gap on screen is smaller than the character count suggests.

Many Spanish subtitles fill both lines, such as “Eran exactamente las 8:46 de la mañana / cuando la ciudad entera quedó en silencio,”. Spanish is read at 17 characters a second, so each subtitle stays up long enough to read when the speaker pauses.

How do Chinese names come out in Spanish?

By sound, and mostly right: 拉奥尼奇 came back as “Raonic” and 弗雷德 as “Fred”. One slipped: 小皮奎特 (Piquet Jr.) came back as “Petit”, and the name was lost. Check names against the video before publishing.

Are places and units written the Spanish way?

Places are. 密苏里州圣路易市 became “San Luis, Misuri”, the Spanish names. Units came back short: “每小时 105 英里” became “105 mph”, where Spanish subtitles usually say “105 millas por hora”. Times read naturally: “las 8:46 de la mañana”.

FAQ

Questions about Spanish subtitles for Chinese videos

Is the Chinese to Spanish video translator free?

Yes. Up to 3 videos a day, 30 minutes each, with no account and no watermark. The Spanish and the Chinese subtitles both download.

How do Spanish-speaking viewers turn the subtitles on?

On YouTube, open YouTube Studio, choose Subtitles, add Spanish or Spanish (Latin America) and upload the SRT with timing. Viewers then switch it on from the subtitle menu.

Can I download the Chinese subtitles?

Yes. Switch the result to Original and save the Chinese SRT or VTT, made from the same speech, in short Chinese lines.

Will it dub the video in Spanish?

No. It writes Spanish subtitles; no Spanish voice is made and the video file is not changed.

Is my video sent anywhere?

The video file stays on your device. Short pieces of its sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Chinese text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent. The picture is never sent.
