How it works

How do you transcribe Azerbaijani audio?

Choose your file. The converter cuts the recording at its pauses into short pieces, writes each piece in Azerbaijani and shows the paragraphs as they are done, each with a time. Copy the transcript or download it at the end.

  1. 1

    Choose an Azerbaijani recording

A WhatsApp voice note saved to your phone, an interview, a lecture or a call, as audio or video.

  2. 2

    Written in Azerbaijani

Every piece is decoded as Azerbaijani, through the first 30 minutes of the recording.

  3. 3

    Copy or download

Copy the text, or download Word, plain text, or SRT and VTT subtitles.

Does it write ə, ı and the other Azerbaijani letters?

Yes. The transcript uses the Latin alphabet of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with ə, ı and İ, ğ, ö, ü, ş and ç appearing about as often as in the original texts. Dotted and dotless i stay distinct, so words like ildə and İtaliya are spelled right.

How does it write numbers and suffixes?

Numbers come back as digits with the suffix after a hyphen, the Azerbaijani way: 2017-ci ilin, 1940-cı ildə, 1966-cı ildən. Abbreviations work the same, as in ABŞ-ın. A small number can come back either way: bir dəqiqə once as “1 dəqiqə”, and the other way round.

A year with a suffix
Written2017-ci ilin
An abbreviation
WrittenABŞ-ın
A distance
Written80 km
One minute
Writtenbir dəqiqə or 1 dəqiqə, either way

How are foreign names spelled?

Usually in their original spelling, where Azerbaijani would write them as they sound: Schengen rather than Şengen, Kirchner rather than Kirçner, Ferguson rather than Ferquson, Hong Kong rather than Honkonq. If your text follows Azerbaijani spelling rules, change these as you edit.

What should you check in an Azerbaijani transcript?

The last words of each passage, and figures in brackets. One passage repeated its first words at the end, and a figure in brackets, “(50 mil)”, was dropped.

This page writes every piece as Azerbaijani. For a recording that switches into Russian or English for whole passages, the main converter detects each piece’s language instead.

Can NoteOwl on a Mac understand Azerbaijani?

Not Azerbaijani, so this page is the one to use for it. NoteOwl on a Mac understands 34 languages, among them English, Russian and Turkish, and transcribes recordings and meetings in those with unlimited transcription, every speaker labelled and nothing uploaded.

FAQ

Questions about Azerbaijani audio to text

Is the Azerbaijani converter free?

Yes. You can transcribe 3 Azerbaijani recordings a day, up to 30 minutes of each, with no account and every download format included.

Can it write Azerbaijani in Arabic or Cyrillic script?

No. The Azerbaijani transcript is in the Latin alphabet used in Azerbaijan today. For another script, convert the text afterwards with a transliteration tool.

What happens to my Azerbaijani recording?

It is sent in short pieces, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each piece and discards it. NoteOwl stores no audio and no transcript.

Does it add punctuation?

Yes. Each sentence ends with a full stop and commas are added. Quotation marks and brackets are left out, so a quoted remark runs on as normal text until you add them.

Can I make Azerbaijani subtitles?

Yes. Download SRT or VTT: each line carries a start and end time and keeps ə, ı and ğ.
