How it works

How do you translate a Danish recording into English?

To translate Danish audio to English, upload the recording; the page is set to Danish speech and English text. It transcribes the Danish in short pieces, translates the lines in batches and keeps every line’s time. Read the English, and open Original to see the Danish.

  1. 1

    Upload the Danish audio

    A møde, a forelæsning, a talebesked from a friend: MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.

  2. 2

    Danish text, then English

Transcribed as Danish, then translated. Up to 30 minutes per recording.

  3. 3

    Copy or download

English as text or Word; the Danish transcript saves separately, with matching times.

How well does spoken Danish come out in English?

Good, in our test of a full Danish recording transcribed and then translated into English. Danish is known for its soft consonants and swallowed syllables, and in our test the transcript’s slips fell mostly on names and rare words, so read those closely.

Why do some names come back strangely?

The English translates the Danish transcript, which writes what it heard. In our test, “Machu Picchu” was heard as “Mako og Pichu” and came out as “Mako and Pichu”, and “Wong Kan Seng” as “Wong Kang‑Seng”. The time beside each paragraph takes you back to check.

What happens to Danish numbers and abbreviations?

In English form. “Det tredje århundrede” came back as “the 3rd century”, and “f.v.t.”, read out as “før vores tid”, became “BCE”. Units switch too: “km/t” came back as “km/h”. Numbers the speaker said as words are often written as digits.

What does English change in a Danish sentence?

Mostly small things. Danish endings that mark “the” disappear into English words: “Grand Prixet” became “the Grand Prix”. Du and its plural both turn into “you”. The English stays close to the Danish, so “Præcis klokken 8:46” came back as “Precisely at 8:46”.

FAQ

Questions about translating Danish audio into English

Is the Danish to English audio translator free?

Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account. You get the English, the Danish transcript and every download.

Can I translate a Danish voice message?

Yes. Save the voice message from your chat app as an audio file, often OPUS, OGG or M4A, and upload it. The English and the Danish come back with times.

Is the Danish transcript included?

Yes. Choose Original to read the Danish and save it as text or SRT. It has the same times as the English, so lines match up.

What if the speakers move into English?

This page transcribes everything as Danish. For a conversation that mixes Danish and English, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.

Does the English show the speakers’ names?

No. The English transcript holds the words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in its transcripts.

Where does my recording go?

It stays in your browser. Short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Danish text to a cloud AI translation service, which each discard it. NoteOwl keeps no audio or text.
