How well does Danish speech turn into English subtitles?
Good, in our test of Danish speech transcribed and translated into English. Most slips sit in names and rare words, which the transcript writes as it hears them. Watch the video once with the English on before publishing.
Which names need checking in the English subtitles?
The less familiar ones. Well-known names came through, such as “California’s governor Arnold Schwarzenegger”. Rarer ones slipped: the Nyiragongo volcano appeared as “the Nyugonga volcano” and a wrestler named Luna as “Lule”. Search the SRT for each name and fix it once.
Do English subtitles take more room than Danish?
About the same: Danish and English ran close in length in our test. The English is cut into its own subtitles, up to 2 lines of 42 characters, each on screen 1 to 7 seconds and readable at 17 characters a second.
Each subtitle starts when its Danish words are spoken, but the English and Danish sets are cut separately, so they needn’t pair up one for one.
Can you publish the Danish subtitles as well?
Yes. Original holds Danish subtitles timed to the same speech. They are written as the transcript heard them, with digits and Danish ordinals such as “det 3. århundrede”, so give them the same name check before they go up beside the English.

FAQ
Questions about English subtitles for Danish videos
Is the Danish to English video translator free?
Yes. 3 videos a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account and no watermark. English and Danish subtitles both download.
Does it dub the Danish into English?
No. It writes English subtitles; the Danish voices and the video file stay as they are.
Where do I add the English subtitles?
In YouTube Studio under Subtitles, by adding English and uploading the SRT with timing, or in any player or editor that opens SRT or VTT.
What if the people in the video also speak English?
This page transcribes all the speech as Danish. For a video that mixes Danish and English, use the main video translator with the spoken language set to Detect automatically.
Does any of my video get stored?
No. Only short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Danish text to a cloud AI translation service, each discarding what it gets. The picture never leaves your device, and NoteOwl keeps nothing.
Do the subtitles include speaker names?
No, only the words. NoteOwl on a Mac writes each speaker’s name into the SRT files it saves.
