How it works
How do you turn a Spanish recording into a Dutch transcript?
To translate Spanish audio to Dutch, drop the recording on this page. It listens for Spanish only, writes each short piece down, and then sends the transcript’s lines for translation in batches. The Dutch keeps the time of every line; Original shows the Spanish.
- 1
Add the Spanish recording
A supplier call, an interview, a seminar or a voice message, as MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.
- 2
Spanish first, then Dutch
Written down in Spanish, then translated into Dutch, up to 30 minutes a file.
- 3
Keep the Dutch
Copy the text, or download TXT or Word with or without times.
Does the Dutch write times and units the Dutch way?
Units, yes: “165 km/h” came back as “165 km/u”, the Dutch abbreviation. Times, not quite: our test wrote “8:46 uur”, where Dutch usually writes 8.46 uur. From English, Dutch used a decimal comma and a thousands dot: “6,5 procent”, “$1.250”.
Will usted become u in Dutch?
That’s the pair: u for usted, je for tú. From English our Dutch made the same split, je in everyday lines and u with “sir” (“Gaat u zitten, meneer”). For a formal Spanish interview, check that u runs through the whole transcript.
Why does the Dutch move the verbs around?
Dutch puts the verb at the end of a subordinate clause and splits verbs like oplopen. “Para que la banda tocara” became “zodat de band kon optreden”, and “En 2009, brasileño sufrió un traumatismo agudo” became “In 2009 liep een Braziliaan acuut hoofdletsel op”: op comes last.
That is one reason the transcript goes for translation in batches: each line is read together with its neighbours, so the translation sees the whole clause before it orders the Dutch.
Which words need checking in the Dutch?
Words whose meaning depends on the story. “Expulsaron a Piquet Jr.” meant he was let go; the Dutch said “verwijderd” (removed), where the human translation has “ontslagen”. “Los vínculos entre India y Pakistán” became “de banden”, literal where Dutch would say “de relatie”.
Compounds came out naturally: “fuentes de ingresos” became “inkomstenbronnen”.
How was Spanish to Dutch translation tested?
With ten Spanish sentences from a public test set, each beside a professional Dutch translation. The Dutch was clear and about as long as the Spanish. One line as it came back:
- Con frecuencia, las concentraciones elevadas de la toxina en las aguas provocan la muerte de los peces.
- DutchVaak veroorzaken de hoge concentraties van het toxine in het water de dood van vissen.

FAQ
Questions about translating Spanish audio into Dutch
Is the Spanish to Dutch audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, as long as 30 minutes each, with no account. The Dutch, the Spanish transcript and all the downloads are included.
Can I get the Dutch as a Word document?
Yes. The Word file opens with the recording’s length and “Translated: Spanish → Dutch”, then the Dutch paragraphs, each with its time unless you untick Times in the text.
Does it work for Spanish from Latin America?
Yes. The page treats Spanish as one language, whatever the accent, and writes it in standard spelling before the Dutch is made.
What if the recording is partly in Dutch?
This page writes every part down as Spanish. For a recording that mixes the two, use the main audio translator and set the spoken language to Detect automatically.
Does it give a spoken Dutch version?
No. The translation is Dutch text only.
Is my recording kept?
No. Your browser sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service and the Spanish text to a cloud AI translation service; neither keeps it, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
