How it works

How do you transcribe a RingCentral recording?

For a phone call, open Phone → Call recordings in the RingCentral app and download the MP3. For a video meeting, use the recording the host shared. Drop the file on the converter, and the transcript fills in as each short piece is done.

  1. 1

    Open your recordings

Phone → Call recordings lists the calls you recorded; Video → Recordings lists the meetings.

  2. 2

    Save the file

Select a call and click the download icon: RingCentral saves it as an MP3.

  3. 3

    Drop it here

Up to 30 minutes of each recording are transcribed, with a time on every paragraph.

Where are RingCentral call recordings?

In the RingCentral app, under Phone → Call recordings, for the person who recorded the call. Select one and click the download icon to save an MP3, which the converter reads as it is. If two people recorded the same call, each has a copy.

Recording calls has to be switched on by your admin in the Admin Portal, on demand or automatically. On-demand call recordings are kept for 90 days, so download the ones you’ll want in writing before then.

Where are RingCentral Video recordings?

In the app’s Video section, on the Recordings tab, once processing is done: about twice the meeting’s length, and up to 24 hours for meetings over an hour. Click a meeting to play it. Only the host can share the recording and transcript.

Who can record a RingCentral Video meeting?

The host or a moderator, with Record in the bottom menu bar. If the host leaves while a moderator keeps recording, the full recording still lands in the host’s Recent recordings. An admin can also make recording start by itself when a host or moderator joins.

Doesn’t RingCentral already transcribe meetings?

Often, yes: a recorded RingCentral Video meeting can come with a transcript you can search, translate and download from the meeting’s details. Phone call recordings are plain MP3s with no text, and that’s where this converter fills the gap.

  • A sales or support call

Turn the MP3 into text to pull out the customer’s exact words and the numbers that were promised.

  • A meeting you weren’t sent

The host hasn’t shared the materials? The meeting’s page has a Message host button to ask for them.

  • Notes for the CRM

Copy the parts that matter from the transcript into the account’s notes.

FAQ

Questions about transcribing RingCentral recordings

Is this RingCentral transcription free?

Yes. Transcribe 3 RingCentral recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, without creating an account. Downloading the transcript as Word, text or subtitles is included.

How long does RingCentral keep call recordings?

On-demand call recordings are saved for 90 days. RingCentral Video cloud recordings are kept for 7 days on Video Pro and for a year on Video Pro+. Download anything you want transcribed before it expires.

Does the RingCentral MP3 leave my computer?

Not as a file. Your browser reads it on your device and sends its sound in short pieces, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes every piece and throws it away. NoteOwl stores no audio and no words.

Will the transcript separate me from the caller?

No. The converter writes both sides of the call as one timed transcript, without names. Use the times to tag each side by hand, or record your calls with NoteOwl on a Mac, which labels the speakers.

What if the RingCentral call ran past 30 minutes?

The converter transcribes the first 30 minutes and notes it above the transcript. Split the MP3 to get the rest, or let NoteOwl on a Mac record your calls, with no limit on length.

Why can’t I record calls in RingCentral?

Call recording is set up by your account’s admin in the RingCentral Admin Portal, either on demand or automatically. If you don’t see Record under More during a call, ask your admin to turn it on.
