How it works
How do you add Chinese subtitles to a Spanish video?
To translate a Spanish video to Chinese, drop it on this page. The Spanish speech is transcribed, each line is translated into Chinese, and the Chinese is broken into short subtitles on the Spanish timing. Download the Chinese SRT for your player or channel.

Chinese SRT or VTT; the Spanish subtitles are under Original.
How do Chinese subtitles look on screen?
Short and dense. Each line holds up to 16 characters, 2 lines a subtitle, read at 9 characters a second. Lines break between words and never start with a comma or full stop, for example “这次袭击使印度与巴基斯坦 / 之间的关系承受了巨大的压力。”.
Punctuation is full-width (,。!?), as Chinese readers expect, and the translation often puts a space around Latin words and numbers: “其中 15 块岩石…”, “去年 7 月”.
Do Chinese subtitles take less room than Spanish?
Yes. Ten Spanish test sentences ran to 1,062 characters; the Chinese to 339, about a third. Chinese lines are shorter (16 characters against 42), so on screen the Chinese needed about a sixth less room than the Spanish.
Are names written in Chinese characters?
Not by the translation: it left names in Latin letters. “Raonic”, “Piquet Jr.” and “Fred” stayed as they are, where a Chinese subtitler writes 拉奥尼奇 and 弗雷德. Viewers can read them, but for a well-known person, swap in the usual Chinese name.
- por Raonic
- Chinese subtitle输给了 Raonic
- Human Chinese败于拉奥尼奇
- los vientos de Fred
- Chinese subtitleFred 风速
- Human Chinese“弗雷德”…的风速
- 105 millas por hora (165 km/h)
- Chinese subtitle每小时 105 英里 (165 km/h)
- Human Chinese每小时 105 英里(每小时 165 公里)
| Spanish | Chinese subtitle | Human Chinese |
|---|---|---|
| por Raonic | 输给了 Raonic | 败于拉奥尼奇 |
| los vientos de Fred | Fred 风速 | “弗雷德”…的风速 |
| 105 millas por hora (165 km/h) | 每小时 105 英里 (165 km/h) | 每小时 105 英里(每小时 165 公里) |
Simplified or Traditional characters?
Simplified, as read in mainland China and Singapore. For viewers in Taiwan or Hong Kong, convert the downloaded SRT to Traditional characters with a converter before you publish; the timing lines are untouched by that.
Making videos in Spanish and Chinese?
NoteOwl understands Spanish and Chinese on your Mac: it imports MP4 videos, transcribes them with unlimited transcription and writes SRT subtitles naming each speaker. For Spanish subtitles you already have, the subtitle translator keeps their exact timing.
FAQ
Questions about Chinese subtitles for Spanish videos
Is the Spanish to Chinese video translator free?
Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account. The Chinese SRT and VTT, the Spanish subtitles and the text are all included.
Can viewers see Spanish and Chinese at once?
Most players show one subtitle track at a time, so upload both and let viewers choose. For a single file with both languages, translate the Spanish SRT on the subtitle translator and download its bilingual SRT.
Does it add a Mandarin voice?
No. The page writes Chinese subtitles and leaves the video’s sound and picture exactly as they are.
Are the brackets full-width too?
Not always. Around Latin letters the translation used ordinary brackets, “(165 km/h)”, where a Chinese editor might write “(165 km/h)”. Both display fine; change them if your style guide asks.
What is sent from my computer?
Short pieces of the video’s sound go to a cloud AI transcription service, then the Spanish text to a cloud AI translation service, which each discard it. The picture is never sent, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
