How it works

How do you turn Spanish speech into Chinese text?

Drop the recording on this page to translate Spanish audio to Chinese. It listens for Spanish only and writes the speech down in short pieces; the lines are then translated into Chinese in batches, and each keeps the time it was said. Original shows the Spanish.

  1. 1

    Add the Spanish recording

A supplier call, a trade-fair interview, a lecture or a voice message, in any common audio format.

  2. 2

    Spanish, then Chinese

Written down in Spanish, then translated into Chinese. Up to 30 minutes per file.

  3. 3

    Copy or save

Copy the Chinese, or download TXT or Word.

Will names be written in Chinese characters?

Not always. In our test, people’s names from the Spanish stayed in Latin letters, “Raonic”, “Piquet Jr.”, “Fred”, where the human Chinese translation wrote them in characters (拉奥尼奇, 弗雷德). Places with an established Chinese name came out in characters: 布里斯班公开赛, 密苏里州.

Latin spelling keeps a name searchable exactly as the person spells it. If your document needs every name in characters, replace each one once with find and replace.

What does the Chinese transcript look like?

Simplified characters with Chinese punctuation (,。、), no spaces between Chinese words, and a space wherever characters meet Latin letters or digits: “输给了 Raonic”, “其中 15 块岩石”. Times put the part of the day first: “就在上午 8:46”.

Relative dates are made explicit: “en julio pasado” became “去年 7 月”, last year’s July.

Why is the Chinese so much shorter than the Spanish?

Because one character often does the work of a whole Spanish word. In our ten test sentences, the Chinese used about a third as many characters as the Spanish. The result line counts the Chinese in characters rather than words.

How does usted come out in Chinese?

Chinese marks politeness with word choice more than grammar. From English, our test used the everyday 你 rather than the polite 您, so where a Spanish speaker says usted to a client or an elder, check whether 您 suits your readers better.

Gender came through in our English test: “Our doctor said she…” became “我们的医生说她…”. Spanish often marks the gender itself (la doctora), which gives the Chinese more to go on.

How was Spanish to Chinese translation tested?

With ten Spanish sentences from a public test set, each beside a professional Chinese translation. The Chinese was clear; the main difference was names left in Latin letters, and one verb, “expulsaron”, came back as 被驱逐出赛 where the human Chinese says dismissed (被解雇).

FAQ

Questions about translating Spanish audio into Chinese

Is the Spanish to Chinese audio translator free?

Yes. Up to 3 recordings a day, each as long as 30 minutes, with no account. The Chinese, the Spanish transcript and the downloads are all included.

Can I get traditional characters?

In our tests the Chinese always came back in simplified characters, as used in mainland China and Singapore. For readers in Taiwan or Hong Kong, convert the text afterwards with a simplified-to-traditional converter.

Can I download the Chinese as a Word file?

Yes. Download Word: the file opens with the recording’s length and “Translated: Spanish → Chinese”, then the Chinese paragraphs, each with its time unless you untick Times in the text.

What if some of the speakers talk in Mandarin?

This page treats the whole recording as Spanish. For a conversation in both languages, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.

Is there a spoken Chinese version?

No. You get Chinese text to read, copy or save, not audio.

Is anything stored?

No. Your browser sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service and the Spanish text to a cloud AI translation service, which discard them after replying. NoteOwl keeps no audio and no text.
