How it works
How do you transcribe Lithuanian audio?
Pick the file. The converter breaks the sound into short pieces at pauses, writes every piece as Lithuanian and shows the paragraphs with their start times as they come in. Then copy the text or download it.
- 1
Pick a Lithuanian recording
An interview, a seminar, a voice memo or a recorded call, as audio or video.
- 2
Lithuanian throughout
The language stays Lithuanian for every piece, up to 30 minutes of the file.

Download or copy
Word, plain text, SRT and VTT are one click each, or copy straight from the page.
Does it write the Lithuanian letters?
All of them, ą, č, ę, ė, į, š, ų, ū and ž, in about the numbers you would expect. Where it slips is length: a long vowel written short, as Mėnulio came back as Menulio and pūsti as pusti.
Which mistakes are most common in a Lithuanian transcript?
Word endings, long vowels and names. Lithuanian packs meaning into case endings, and some came back wrong, such as “15 dienas” for “15 d.”. Plan to read the whole transcript against the audio; a whole clause once came back as unrelated words.
Endings
Check the case of nouns after numbers and prepositions.
Long vowels
ė, ū and y are the letters most often written short.
Roman numerals
XIX a. was kept, but XI, XII and XIII came back as 6, 7 and 8. Check every century.
How does it write foreign names?
Usually in their original spelling with a Lithuanian ending added: Schengeno, Barcelonos and Millerui, where Lithuanian style would write Šengeno, Barselonos and Mileriui. English titles and brands, such as Apple and Operation Dragoon, stay as they are.
Names the converter did not know are spelled by sound instead, so a little-known person or place can come back as a different word. Compare each name with the recording.
How are dates, units and abbreviations written?
Some come back spelled out and some shortened. “2002 m.” became “2002 metais” and “70 km/h” became “70 km per valandą”, while “29 metų amžiaus” came back as “29 m. a.”. Pick one style for your document and apply it in one pass.
Can NoteOwl work with Lithuanian on a Mac?

FAQ
Lithuanian audio to text: questions
Can I transcribe Lithuanian audio for free?
Yes. Up to 3 files a day and 30 minutes per file, without an account, and every download is included.
Why is the language fixed instead of detected?
A short piece of Lithuanian can be taken for Latvian or another neighbouring language when the language is guessed. Fixed to Lithuanian, every piece keeps Lithuanian spelling. For a recording that switches into English or Russian for long passages, the main converter on this site detects each piece instead.
Does my recording stay private?
The page sends it in short pieces, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each one and discards it. NoteOwl keeps no copy of the audio or the Lithuanian transcript.
Does it add punctuation?
Full stops and commas, yes; every sentence ends with a full stop. Quotation marks („…“) and brackets are left out.
Can I make Lithuanian subtitles?
Yes. SRT and VTT give each line its start and end time, with the Lithuanian letters intact. Correct endings and names before publishing.
