How it works
How do you translate an Azerbaijani recording into English?
To translate Azerbaijani audio to English, drop the recording on this page. It is transcribed as Azerbaijani in short pieces, then each line is put into English with its time. Read the English, and open Original whenever a name or a figure needs checking.
- 1
Add the recording
A WhatsApp or Telegram voice note saved as a file, an interview or a class: MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.
- 2
Azerbaijani, then English
Transcribed in Azerbaijani, then translated, for the first 30 minutes of each file.
- 3
Keep the English
Copy it or save text or Word; the Azerbaijani transcript is a separate download.
How well does Azerbaijani speech come through in English?
The meaning comes through. In our test, Azerbaijani speech scored lower than most languages once transcribed and translated, and its transcription slipped more often on names and long words. Read the English for the sense, then check the details that matter.
Why check every name in the English?
Because names are where Azerbaijani slips most. Foreign names are written the Azerbaijani way, by sound, and can come back translated as words: Piquet Jr., said as “Kiçik Piket”, became “the Small Picket” in our test, kiçik being Azerbaijani for “small”.
People, companies, places: compare each with the recording or with the Azerbaijani transcript under Original. Everything else in that sentence, the year and the Grand Prix, came through.
What happens to Azerbaijani endings on numbers and times?
They become English words. Azerbaijani joins endings to numbers with a hyphen, “saat düz 8:46-da”, and the English turned the -da into “at”: “At exactly 8:46 a.m.”. Units were kept, though one line’s km/s came back as “(165 km) per hour”.
- Səhər saat düz 8:46-da…
- EnglishAt exactly 8:46 a.m.…
- Hal-hazırda saatda 105 mil (165 km/s) …
- English…moving at 105 miles (165 km) per hour…
- 2009-cu ildə Macarıstan Qran Prisinin ardınca…
- EnglishIn 2009, after the Hungarian Grand Prix…
| Azerbaijani | English |

How do you get a better English result?
Give it clear speech. One speaker close to the microphone, little background noise and names said slowly all help the Azerbaijani transcript, and the English follows from it. A misheard word is translated as misheard, so a clean recording pays off twice.
Recording in English, Russian or Turkish as well?
NoteOwl understands English, Russian and Turkish on your Mac, though not Azerbaijani: it transcribes recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps them searchable. For an Azerbaijani transcript only, use Azerbaijani audio to text.
FAQ
Questions about translating Azerbaijani audio into English
Is the Azerbaijani to English audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account; the English, the Azerbaijani transcript and every download are included.
What if the speakers switch to Russian or Turkish?
This page writes every part as Azerbaijani first. For a recording that changes language, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Which alphabet is the Azerbaijani transcript in?
The Latin alphabet used in Azerbaijan, with ə, ğ and ı. The transcription doesn’t produce the Perso-Arabic script used for Azerbaijani in Iran.
Can I see the Azerbaijani transcript?
Yes. Switch to Original for the Azerbaijani, with the same times as the English, and save it as text or SRT.
Does it name the speakers?
No. The English transcript has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels speakers in the transcripts it makes.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Short pieces of the sound go from your browser to a cloud AI transcription service and the Azerbaijani text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent. NoteOwl stores nothing.
