How it works

How do you translate English audio into Galician?

To translate English audio to Galician, drop the recording on this page. It is transcribed in English a short piece at a time, then each line is translated into Galician with its time kept. Read the galego, compare any line with the English, and save it.

  1. 1

    Drop in the recording

An English talk, class, interview or call, as MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.

  2. 2

    English, then Galician

The speech is transcribed and translated, through the first 30 minutes of the file.

  3. 3

    Keep the transcript

Copy the Galician or download text or Word; Original shows the English.

How does the Galician read?

As Galician, not Spanish with a few changes: our test lines wrote viaxe, mañá, despois and xa sabes. In our test, translation from English into Galician scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with.

The teachers were tired after the trip.
GalicianOs profesores estaban cansados despois da viaxe.
Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow.
GalicianA nosa médica dixo que volvería chamar mañá.
Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal.
GalicianBen, xa sabes, é algo importante.

Does the transcript use ti or vostede?

Ti for ordinary questions: “Can you send me the report before Friday?” became “Podes enviarme o informe antes do venres?”. Lines with “sir” switched to vostede. For an interview with an official or an older guest, read the questions and change ti to vostede where it fits.

What should you check in the Galician?

Titles and genders. “Our doctor… she” correctly became “A nosa médica”, but “Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez” became “A Dra. Patel e Maria Lopez”, a feminine title the English never gave. Names kept their spelling; a misheard English word stays misheard.

What do you get to keep?

A Galician transcript in paragraphs, each with its time, which you can copy or save as Word headed “Translated: English → Galician”. Galician ran a little longer than English in our test, so the document is slightly longer than the English one.

Recording in English, Spanish or Portuguese?

NoteOwl understands English, Spanish and Portuguese on your Mac, though not Galician. It transcribes recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps everything searchable. For English as English text, use audio to text.

FAQ

Questions about translating English audio into Galician

Is the English to Galician audio translator free?

Yes. Translate 3 recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account; the Galician, the English and every download come with it.

Can I save the Galician as Word?

Yes. The Word document shows the recording’s length, the date and “Translated: English → Galician”, then the Galician paragraphs with times you can hide.

What if speakers switch to Spanish or Galician?

This page treats all of the speech as English. For a recording that changes language, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.

Will it read the Galician aloud?

No. The result is written Galician, as text, Word or subtitles, without any spoken version.

Does the transcript name the speakers?

No. It has the words and their times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels speakers in the transcripts it makes.

Is my recording stored?

No. Short pieces of the sound go from your browser to a cloud AI transcription service, then the English text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it gets, and NoteOwl keeps nothing.
