Discord call transcription
Discord call transcription starts with a recording, and Discord doesn’t make one: it has no recording or transcript feature. Drop in a Clip, a voice message or a call recording you already have, and get the words with times.

MP4, M4A, MOV, WebM, MKV, MP3 or WAV. Up to 30 minutes of each file, 3 free files a day. The language is detected automatically.
Want whole Discord calls in writing? NoteOwl records them on your Mac with no bot joining the voice channel and transcribes them there, unlimited, labelling each speaker.
How it works
How do you transcribe a Discord call?
Get the call as a file first, since Discord keeps none: a Clip saved on your computer, a voice message, or a recording someone made of the call. Drop that file on the converter, and the transcript appears in timed paragraphs.
- 1
Get a file of the conversation
A Clip from the storage location set in Discord, a voice message, or a recording of the call made on a computer.
- 2
Drop it on the converter
Audio or video both work; the converter only uses the sound.
- 3
Keep the text
Up to 30 minutes of each file are transcribed. Copy the text or save Word, text or subtitles.
Can Discord record a call?
No. Discord says it doesn’t currently provide a recording or transcript feature, and its help pages describe none for DMs, group calls or voice channels. The closest thing it has, Clips, saves only short moments of a stream you broadcast.
So a Discord call you want in writing has to be recorded as it happens, on the computer you’re calling from. On a Mac, that’s what NoteOwl does, without adding a bot to the server.
What are Discord Clips, and do they include voices?
Clips save the last 30 seconds, 60 seconds or 2 minutes of a stream you’re broadcasting, straight to your computer, and you can switch Voice Channel Audio on when you edit one. They’re in early access for Nitro members, on Windows only.

Can you transcribe a Discord voice message?
Yes, once you have it as a file. Discord voice messages run up to 20 minutes, are sent from the mobile app and play anywhere. Drop the file here; the voice message converter covers voice notes from other apps as well.
What do people transcribe from Discord?
Anything said in a voice channel that someone will want to look up later. Text is easier to search, quote and pin than an hour of audio.
Community calls and AMAs
Post the questions and answers in a text channel for members who missed it.
Study and project groups
Turn a working session into notes and a list of who’s doing what.
Game and stream moments
Caption a Clip with SRT subtitles before you share it.
Want Discord calls transcribed on your Mac, with no bot?
NoteOwl records Discord calls on your Mac from your microphone and the Mac’s own audio, so no recording bot joins the server. When the call ends, it writes the transcript with each speaker labelled, unlimited, using on-device AI models.
FAQ
Questions about transcribing Discord calls
Is this Discord call transcription free?
Yes. 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account and no bot to add. The text can be copied or downloaded as Word, plain text or subtitles.
Do I need a Discord bot to transcribe a call?
No. This converter works on a file you already have, so nothing has to join the server. To capture whole calls, NoteOwl on a Mac records from your own computer’s audio, again with no bot.
Does Discord Clips work on a Mac?
No. Discord says early access to Clips is available only on Windows, not on Mac, mobile or console, and only for Nitro members.
Is my Discord recording uploaded?
No. The file stays on your device; your browser reads it and sends only short pieces of its sound, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes and discards each piece. NoteOwl stores neither audio nor text.
Will the transcript show who was talking in the voice channel?
No. The converter writes everything as one timed transcript without usernames. Mark speakers by hand from the times, or record calls with NoteOwl on a Mac, which labels each speaker.
What if the recording is longer than 30 minutes?
The converter does the first 30 minutes and says so above the transcript. Split a long recording into parts first, or record calls with NoteOwl on a Mac, which has no length limit.
