How it works
How do you transcribe a Telegram voice chat?
An admin records the voice or video chat, and Telegram sends the finished recording to that admin’s Saved Messages. Save the file from there to your computer and drop it on the converter; the transcript appears in timed paragraphs.

Which Telegram calls can be recorded?
Only the voice and video chats held in a group, and live streams in a channel, and only by an admin. Telegram’s documentation describes no recording for private calls, or for group calls started outside a group or channel, so those leave no file.

Where does a recorded Telegram voice chat go?
Straight to the Saved Messages of the admin who recorded it, the chat Telegram keeps with yourself, as soon as the recording stops. Telegram’s own announcement put it plainly: the audio file is instantly available there, ready to publish for anyone who missed the chat.
Should a Telegram chat be recorded with video?
Not for the transcript’s sake. An admin can record the sound alone, or the sound with video in portrait or landscape. The words come out the same either way, because the converter only listens; the audio-only file is just smaller to save and send.
Can Telegram voice messages be transcribed here too?
Yes. A voice message is already a recording, so it drops in the same way. Telegram Premium also converts voice and video messages to text inside Telegram; without it, this page or the voice message converter does the job.

Questions about transcribing Telegram calls
Is this Telegram call transcription free?

Can I record a private Telegram call?
Not in Telegram. Its documentation describes recording only for voice and video chats in groups and live streams in channels, by an admin. NoteOwl on a Mac can record a private Telegram call from the Mac’s audio and transcribe it there.
Who can record a Telegram voice chat?
An admin of the group or channel holding it. When the admin stops recording, the file goes to their own Saved Messages, so ask that admin for a copy if you weren’t the one recording.
Is the recording uploaded when I transcribe it?
No. The recording stays on your device; only short pieces of its sound go, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each one and then discards it. NoteOwl keeps no audio and no text.
Does the transcript show which speaker said what?
No. A group chat comes back as one timed transcript, without names. Mark the speakers yourself from the times, or use NoteOwl on a Mac, which labels them.
What if the voice chat ran longer than 30 minutes?
The converter transcribes the first 30 minutes of the recording and notes it above the transcript. Split a long recording into parts, or record calls with NoteOwl on a Mac, which has no length limit.
