How it works
How do you transcribe a GoTo Meeting recording?
Take the file from wherever the organizer’s account saves recordings: download an online one from GoTo’s past meetings, or open the local WebM in the recordings folder. Drop it on the converter and the words appear, each paragraph with its time.
- 1
Filter for recorded sessions
In the GoTo app, open Meetings → Past and switch on Recorded. Widen the list beyond 7 days if the session is older.
- 2
Download, or open the folder
Select the Download icon to save an online recording as MP4. A local recording is already a WebM file in Documents.
- 3
Drop the file here
MP4 or WebM, the converter takes either. It transcribes up to 30 minutes of each session.
Where are GoTo Meeting recordings saved?
It depends on the recording setting of whoever pressed Record. Online recordings stay in that person’s GoTo account and download as MP4. Local ones are WebM files on their computer, in Documents unless they chose another folder, named with the date, time and meeting name.

Do GoTo’s WebM files need converting first?
Not for a transcript. GoTo saves every local recording as WebM and points to a third-party tool for turning it into MP4, which you’d only need for editing. The converter reads WebM as it is and uses only the sound.
Why can’t you find a GoTo Meeting recording?
Three usual reasons: the list of past meetings shows only the last 7 days until you widen it, the account saves recordings locally instead of online, or the recording was made by someone else and lives in their account or on their computer.
Widen the dates
Switch the past-meetings filter from 7 days to 30 days or 12 months.
Check the setting
Settings → Meeting → Content shows whether this account records online or to a local folder.
Ask who recorded
Recordings belong to the person who started them, online or on their computer.
How long can a GoTo Meeting recording be?
Up to 8 hours, or 2 hours if no attendees are there, or 20 GB, whichever comes first. A local recording also needs at least 5 GB free in its folder. Pausing doesn’t split anything: a paused and resumed session is still one file.
The converter transcribes the first 30 minutes of any one file, so for a long session, cut the recording into parts and drop them one by one.

FAQ
Questions about transcribing GoTo Meeting recordings
Is this GoTo Meeting transcription free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day are transcribed free, up to 30 minutes each, with no sign-up. Copy the text or download it as Word, plain text or subtitles.
Who can record a GoTo Meeting session?
Organizers and co-organizers. Recording to your own computer needs the GoTo desktop app; from the GoTo mobile app, a session can be recorded only online, to the cloud.
Is my GoTo recording sent anywhere?
Only its sound, in short pieces. The browser reads the MP4 or WebM on your device and sends brief audio pieces, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service that transcribes each and discards it. NoteOwl saves no audio and no transcript.
Can I see who said what in the GoTo transcript?
No. The converter writes the session as one timed transcript without speaker names. Mark the organizer and attendees yourself using the times, or let NoteOwl on a Mac label the speakers.
What about a GoTo session longer than 30 minutes?
Only its first 30 minutes are transcribed, and a note above the transcript says so. Split the file and drop the parts separately, or record sessions with NoteOwl on a Mac, where length isn’t limited.
How long does GoTo keep online recordings?
Session history, recording included, stays in the account for 365 days, and recording links expire after a year by default. Download any session you want to keep before then.
