How it works

How do you translate English subtitles into Macedonian?

Drop the SRT or VTT here; Macedonian is already set as the target. The text of the subtitles is sent in batches, so each line is translated with its neighbours, and comes back in Cyrillic, placed at the original times. Read it through, then download.

  1. 1

    Drop in your subtitles

An SRT or VTT file in English or another listed language, from an editor, a course or a subtitle site.

  2. 2

    Translate to Macedonian

The words become Macedonian Cyrillic; numbers and timecodes are copied unchanged.

  3. 3

    Download the .mk.srt

The file keeps your name with the Macedonian code, such as Film.mk.srt; VTT and bilingual SRT too.

Will the Macedonian subtitles be in Cyrillic?

Yes. Every Macedonian reply is checked for Cyrillic, and one that comes back mostly in Latin letters is sent to the next translation route instead. Names you wrote in Latin letters stay that way: “Dr. Patel и Maria Lopez ќе ја водат сесијата.”

In the same test, the Russian and Bulgarian targets wrote those names in Cyrillic; the Macedonian left them as the file spelled them. If your viewers expect Cyrillic names, change them in the downloaded file.

Do numbers need changing for Macedonian viewers?

Possibly. Our test kept English-style figures: “6.5 percent to $1,250” became “6.5 проценти на $1,250”. Macedonian normally writes a decimal comma, so for a home audience change 6.5 to 6,5. Dates already read the Macedonian way: “16 октомври 2026 година”.

The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.

Does the Macedonian keep a woman as a woman?

Not always. “Our doctor said she would call back” came back as “Нашиот доктор рече…”, a masculine “our doctor”, so the woman was lost. Where it matters, change it to “Нашата докторка”. Plural lines raise no such issue: Macedonian plurals don’t mark gender.

Do Macedonian subtitles take more room than English?

A little. In our test, Macedonian ran a little longer than the English it translated, and dates and times add words such as “година” and “часот”. Each subtitle keeps its time and is laid out again in at most 2 fuller lines, never a third.

Lines aim for 42 characters, the same as for English, and each Cyrillic letter counts once. Breaks fall between words, avoiding a short word such as “и”, “на” or “во” at the end of a line.

Need subtitles from Macedonian speech instead?

Use the Macedonian subtitle generator, which writes subtitles from what is said in a Macedonian video. NoteOwl on a Mac doesn’t transcribe Macedonian; for English recordings it offers unlimited transcription and saves SRT subtitles with speaker names, ready to translate here.

FAQ

Macedonian subtitle translation: questions

Is it free to translate subtitles to Macedonian?

Yes. 3 files a day, each up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, with no account and no watermark.

How good is translation into Macedonian?

In our test of 50 sentences, translation from English into Macedonian scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Gender, number style and names are the things to look over.

Will the Macedonian stay in sync with the video?

Yes. Each subtitle keeps the number and the start and end time it had in your file, so the Macedonian appears exactly where the original did.

Can I keep the original line with the Macedonian?

Yes. The bilingual SRT shows the original line above the Macedonian one in every subtitle, useful for learners reading Cyrillic and for anyone checking the translation.

Will Cyrillic display properly in my player?

The files are saved as UTF-8 text, which current players, editors and YouTube read correctly. If an old player shows wrong characters, set its subtitle encoding to UTF-8.

Is my subtitle file uploaded?

Your browser reads the file and sends only the subtitle text, in batches, to a cloud AI translation service, which translates it and discards it. NoteOwl stores neither the file nor the result.
