How it works

How do you get Spanish subtitles for a Russian video?

Drop the video on this page; it is set to Russian speech and Spanish subtitles. The Russian is transcribed, each line is translated, and the Spanish is cut into subtitles on the Russian timing. Download the SRT, and you have used it to translate a Russian video to Spanish.

  1. 1

    Choose the Russian video

A lecture, a stream recording, an interview: MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, 3GP or WebM.

  2. 2

    Russian becomes Spanish

Transcribed and translated, up to 30 minutes of each video.

  3. 3

    Download the subtitles

Spanish SRT or VTT; the Russian subtitles are under Original.

How cleanly is Russian speech transcribed?

Very cleanly, in our language test. The Spanish subtitles are translated from that Russian transcript, so what the speaker said reaches the Spanish with little lost on the way. The Russian is under Original whenever you want to compare.

Do Spanish subtitles need more room than Russian?

A little: ten Russian test sentences came to 932 characters and their Spanish to 1,053, about an eighth more. The Spanish is laid out on its own terms, 2 lines of up to 42 characters a subtitle, so a longer sentence simply carries on into the next one.

How do Russian names come out in Spanish?

Spelled back from Cyrillic, usually well: “Раоничу”, with its Russian case ending, came back as “Raonic”. One slipped: “Пике-младший” became “Picqué Jr.”, where the driver is Piquet Jr. Check names that were spoken in Russian before you publish.

Are times and units changed to Spanish style?

Units are: “105 миль в час (165 км/ч)” became “105 millas por hora (165 km/h)”. Times keep the form the speaker used, so “в 08:46” stayed “a las 08:46” with its leading zero. Remove the zero if your viewers expect “8:46”.

FAQ

Questions about Spanish subtitles for Russian videos

Is the Russian to Spanish video translator free?

Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account. The Spanish subtitles, the Russian ones and the text all download.

Can I download the Russian subtitles too?

Yes. Switch the result to Original and save the Russian SRT or VTT in Cyrillic, made from the same speech as the Spanish.

Does it add a Spanish voice?

No. It makes Spanish subtitles only; the video’s sound and picture are left as they are.

How do Spanish speakers turn the subtitles on?

On YouTube, add Spanish under Subtitles in YouTube Studio and upload the SRT with timing; viewers choose it from the subtitle menu. Players such as VLC load an SRT named like the video.

Is my Russian video uploaded?

No. Your browser takes the sound out on your device; short pieces go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Russian text to a cloud AI translation service, and each discards it. The picture is never sent.
