How it works

How do you translate a Russian recording into Spanish?

To translate Russian audio to Spanish, drop the recording on this page. It listens for Russian only and writes each short piece in Cyrillic; then those lines become a Spanish transcript in batches, and each line keeps its time. Original shows the Russian.

  1. 1

    Choose the Russian recording

An interview, a lecture, a call or a Telegram voice message saved as a file.

  2. 2

    Cyrillic first, then Spanish

Transcribed in Russian and translated into Spanish. Up to 30 minutes per recording.

  3. 3

    Read or download

Copy the Spanish, or save TXT or Word.

Where do the Spanish articles come from?

From the translation: Russian has no words for “the” or “a”, so Spanish adds el, la, un or una from context. “Автобус следует в Six Flags St. Louis” became “El autobús se dirige a Six Flags St. Louis”. Check articles where it matters whether something was mentioned before.

How do Russian names come back in Spanish?

Spelled from the Cyrillic by sound, so a well-known name can come back wrong: “Пике-младший” returned as “Picqué Jr.”, not Piquet Jr. Russian also changes the endings of names (Раоничу means “to Raonic”), and the translation undid that correctly: “contra Raonic”.

How is Russian speech written down before translation?

Very cleanly, in Cyrillic with full punctuation. Our transcription test never wrote ё (актеры, not актёры), used «» quotation marks, and spelled unusual surnames by ear, “Куома” for Куомо. The Spanish follows the transcript’s spelling, so check names you know.

Do ты and вы become tú and usted?

That’s the match, and Russian marks the choice as clearly as Spanish does. Plural вы becomes ustedes, or vosotros for friends in Spain. Times keep the Russian form: “Ровно в 08:46” came back as “Exactamente a las 08:46”, leading zero included.

How natural is the Spanish from Russian?

Natural, in ten test sentences with a professional Spanish version beside them, and about an eighth longer than the Russian. The storm “урагана Фред” became “huracán Fred”. Two lines:

Обычно рыбы погибают из-за высокой концентрации токсических веществ в воде.
SpanishNormalmente, los peces mueren debido a la alta concentración de sustancias tóxicas en el agua.
Пятнадцать из этих метеоритов связывают с метеоритным дождем, прошедшим в июле прошлого года.
SpanishQuince de estos meteoritos se relacionan con la lluvia de meteoritos ocurrida en julio del año pasado.

Is the Russian to Spanish audio translator free?

Yes. 3 recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, without signing up. The Spanish, the Russian transcript and every download come with it.

Can I translate a Telegram voice message?

Yes. Save the voice message as a file, usually OGG or OPUS, and drop it on the page like any other recording.

Can I save the Spanish as Word?

Yes. The Word file opens with the recording’s length and “Translated: Russian → Spanish”, then the Spanish paragraphs and their times.

What if the speakers mix Russian and Spanish?

This page writes every part down as Russian. For a mixed recording, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.

Does it label the speakers?

No. The Spanish has words and times without speaker names. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker.

Is my recording stored?

No. Your browser sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service and the Russian text to a cloud AI translation service, which discard it after answering. NoteOwl stores no audio and no text.
