How it works
How do you get English subtitles for a Spanish video?
To translate a Spanish video to English, drop it on the page. Its Spanish speech is transcribed, every line is put into English, and the English is arranged as subtitles on the video’s timeline. Download the SRT for a player or YouTube, or the VTT for the web.

Add the Spanish video
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V or 3GP; only the sound leaves the file.

English subtitles are built
Spanish is transcribed, translated and timed. Up to 30 minutes of each video.

English SRT or VTT; Original holds Spanish subtitles on the same timing.
Are English subtitles shorter than the Spanish speech?
Yes. Across our Spanish test recording, the English used 898 words for the transcript’s 1,005, so English subtitles have room to spare and stay easy to read even when a speaker talks fast.
Each subtitle holds at most 2 lines of up to 42 characters and stays up long enough to read at about 17 characters a second, beginning as the Spanish words are said.
How well is Spanish speech understood?
Very well. Our test rated Spanish transcription very clean and its English good, on a recording of Latin American Spanish. Unusual words can even come out tidier: the transcript’s “poutukawa” trees appeared in English as “pōhutukawa”, the correct spelling.
Why might the English say “him” where the Spanish didn’t?
Because Spanish often doesn’t say. “Los luchadores compañeros de Luna también le rindieron homenaje” uses “le”, which fits a man or a woman, and the English chose “paid tribute to him”, though Luna was a woman. Check pronouns wherever the person matters.
Do English subtitles keep the Spanish word order?
Usually not, but watch for lines that do. “Fue derrotado, hace poco, por Raonic” came back as “He was defeated, recently, by Raonic”, commas and all, where a subtitle reads better as “He recently lost to Raonic”. Smooth such lines in the SRT.
Publishing videos in Spanish?

FAQ
Spanish videos with English subtitles: questions
Is the Spanish to English video translator free?
Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, need no account and carry no watermark. English and Spanish subtitles both download.
Does it handle Spanish from Spain and from Latin America?
Yes. The page listens for Spanish as one language, whatever the accent; our test recording was Latin American Spanish. Regional words are translated by meaning.
Can I watch a Spanish video with these subtitles?
Yes. Load the English SRT in a player such as VLC or IINA, or give it the video’s file name so the player finds it. The video file itself is not changed.
Is there an English voice-over?
No. The page makes English subtitles; the Spanish sound stays as it is.
What if the speakers switch into English?
Here everything is transcribed as Spanish. For a video in both languages, use the main video translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Which parts of my video are sent?
Only the sound, in short pieces, to a cloud AI transcription service, and then the Spanish text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards it after answering. The picture is never sent, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
