How it works
How do you transcribe Hebrew audio?
Give the page a recording. It is divided into short pieces where the speaker pauses, each piece is written in Hebrew, and the paragraphs appear one after another with their times, ready to copy or download.
- 1
Give it a Hebrew recording
A voice memo, a lecture, a podcast or a call from your phone, as an audio file or a video.
- 2
Hebrew text appears
Every piece is treated as Hebrew, never guessed, for the first 30 minutes of the recording.
- 3
Copy or save
Copy the text, or download a Word document, plain text, or SRT and VTT subtitles.
How does the transcript write Hebrew?
In unpointed Hebrew, with no niqqud, and usually in full spelling: לעיתים rather than לעתים, תוכניות rather than תכניות. Abbreviations are written out in full, and a prefix letter before a number is joined with a hyphen.

Which Hebrew letters get mixed up?
The ones that sound the same in modern Israeli speech. The transcript writes what it hears, so a word can come back with א for ע, ט for ת, כ for ח or ס for ש, and look almost right.
א and ע
אוניות (ships) came back as עוניות, and אורך as עורך.
ט and ת
צייתו (obey) came back as צייטו.
כ and ח
הכלאה (cross-breeding) came back as החלאה.
ש and ס
שרטונים came back as סרטונים, and שדרות as סדרות.
Which parts of a Hebrew transcript need a careful read?
Sentences full of times, codes or foreign words. One with a time range and an English abbreviation came back as a few unrelated words, and another came back with its words reordered. Names, numbers and sentence ends are the next things to check.
Fewer than half the pieces ended with a full stop, and one statement came back as a question because האי was heard as האם. Reading the text while the audio plays is the quickest way to put both right.
What happens to English words in Hebrew speech?
Some keep their Latin letters, as M16 did. Others are written in Hebrew letters by sound: the Latin name Geospiza came back as ג'אוס פיזה. For a recording with whole stretches of English, use the main converter, which detects each piece’s language.
Can NoteOwl understand Hebrew on a Mac?

FAQ
Questions about Hebrew audio to text
Is this Hebrew converter free?
Yes: 3 Hebrew recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes long. No account is needed and every download format is included.
Can it add niqqud?
No. The Hebrew transcript is unpointed, the way Hebrew is normally written. If you need vowel points, for teaching or for a text for children, add them afterwards with a vocalisation tool.
Is my Hebrew recording kept?
No. The page sends short pieces of it, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each piece and discards it. NoteOwl keeps neither the audio nor the transcript.
Can it transcribe a video in Hebrew?
Yes. Drop an MP4 or MOV, such as a recorded Zoom call or a phone video, and the converter transcribes its sound.
Can I make Hebrew subtitles?
Yes. Download SRT or VTT and each Hebrew line gets its start and end time. Check names and add missing full stops first, so each caption ends where the sentence does.
Does it translate Hebrew into English?
No. It writes the Hebrew that was spoken. For English, paste the transcript into a translator and keep the Hebrew original with its times beside it.
