Hebrew subtitle generator
This Hebrew subtitle generator writes subtitles for a video spoken in Hebrew: the language is set to Hebrew, every line is marked to read right to left, and the subtitles download as an SRT or VTT file that follows the speaker.

How it works
How do you make Hebrew subtitles for a video?
Drop the video on the page. Its sound is transcribed as Hebrew in short pieces, then written out as subtitles of one or two right-to-left lines that keep time with the speaker. Look through them, then download SRT or VTT.
- 1
Pick the video
A shiur, a lecture, an interview or a family video: MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM, or its audio alone.
- 2
Hebrew subtitles appear
Every stretch is written in Hebrew letters, through the first 30 minutes of the video.
- 3
Download them
SRT for YouTube and video editors, VTT for a web player, or plain text.
How do Hebrew subtitles stay right to left?
Each line begins with an invisible right-to-left mark. A player that lays lines out left to right then still puts the full stop, comma or question mark on the correct side, even when a line holds digits or Latin letters.
In our Hebrew test layout, all 132 lines began with the mark. You won’t see it, but if you retype a whole line, copy the start of another line so the mark comes with it.
How long is a line of Hebrew subtitles?
Up to 42 characters, as for English, and never more than 2 lines a subtitle. Hebrew without niqqud is compact: lines from our 40 test sentences held about 29 characters on average, and each subtitle stays up long enough to read.

How do numbers and English look in Hebrew subtitles?
Years and larger figures stay in digits, and a prefix letter joins one with a hyphen, as in ב-1990 or כ-10,000. Abbreviations spoken in full come back in full, so gershayim rarely appear. Latin letters, such as M16, stay as they are inside the Hebrew line.
Why set the subtitle language to Hebrew?
So the whole video is subtitled in Hebrew letters. When the language is guessed, a short or unclear Hebrew phrase can be read as another language, and that block of subtitles comes out in the wrong language.
For a video that switches between Hebrew and English sentences, the main subtitle generator is the better choice: it decides the language of each short stretch itself.
What should you check in Hebrew subtitles?
Names and borrowed words first: they are the likeliest slips. Then read for meaning, because letters that sound alike in modern Hebrew can swap and still make a real-looking word.
Names
A street name, שדרות ספולוודה, came back as broken words. Compare every name with the video.
Borrowed words
ספקטרום came back as two words, ספקת הורום. Watch technical and English-derived terms.
Sound-alike letters
צייתו came back with ט for ת. Words like that pass a quick glance, so read the preview line by line.
Can NoteOwl subtitle Hebrew recordings on a Mac?
Yes. Hebrew is one of the languages NoteOwl understands on your Mac, where it transcribes recordings with unlimited transcription, labels the speakers and saves SRT subtitles with their names. For a Hebrew transcript instead of subtitles, use Hebrew audio to text.
FAQ
Questions about Hebrew subtitles
Is the Hebrew subtitle generator free?
Yes: subtitles for 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes of each, with no account and no watermark. SRT, VTT and text are included.
How do I add Hebrew subtitles to a YouTube video?
Download the SRT, open the video’s subtitles settings on YouTube, choose Hebrew as the language and upload the file. The times in it already match the video you made it from.
Can it make English subtitles for a Hebrew video?
No. The subtitles are in the Hebrew that is spoken; nothing is translated. Translate the SRT’s text for English and leave its numbers and times exactly as they are.
Can I edit the Hebrew subtitles?
Yes. Open the SRT or VTT in a text editor that handles right-to-left text, fix the word and save as UTF-8. Keep the start of each line, where the invisible mark sits, and the times as they are.
Does my video get uploaded?
No. The browser opens it on your device and takes out the sound. Short pieces of that sound go over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each and discards it, and NoteOwl stores nothing at all.
Can the subtitles show vowel points?
No. They are written without niqqud, as everyday Hebrew is. Add vowel points in an editor afterwards if your viewers need them, for example in a video for children.
