How it works

How do you transcribe Turkish audio?

Add the recording to the page. It is cut at pauses into short pieces, each piece is transcribed as Turkish, and the paragraphs appear with their start times while you watch. At the end, copy the Turkish transcript or save it as a file.

  1. 1

    Add a file

    A WhatsApp sesli mesaj, a phone recording of a lecture, an MP3 interview or a video’s MP4.

  2. 2

    Read the Turkish text

It is written paragraph by paragraph, with times. The first 30 minutes of each file are transcribed.

  3. 3

    Save it

Copy it, or download TXT, Word, SRT or VTT.

Does it keep ı, İ, ğ and ş?

Yes. Our Turkish test transcript used ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü throughout, in words such as “uçağı”, “bağımsız”, “İnternette” and “Güreşçi”, and kept the dotless ı and the dotted i apart in ordinary Turkish words, where swapping them changes the word.

Does it put apostrophes before suffixes?

Yes, on names and numbers, as the Türk Dil Kurumu’s spelling rules ask: “Japonya’nın”, “TMZ’ye”, “Mart 2017’ye”, “1967’de”, “35 mm’dir”. It once added one where the rules don’t want it, “Rumence’dir” for Rumencedir, since language names take no apostrophe.

How are Turkish numbers and dates written?

Mostly as digits, including some the speaker said as words, though small ones such as “iki kez” can stay in words. A full stop separates thousands, and suffixes after a number get their apostrophe.

“on yedi kişinin”
Written“17 kişinin”
“iki yıl”
Written“2 yıl”
A date
Written“15 Ağustos 1940”
A population
Written“40.000’in biraz altında”
A year with a suffix
Written“1967’de”

Why set the converter to Turkish?

Because Azerbaijani is close enough to Turkish that a short piece can be taken for it when the language is guessed, and Azerbaijani spelling differs (it writes ə, for one). Fixed to Turkish, every piece is spelled the Turkish way.

For a recording that moves between Turkish and English or German for long stretches, the main audio to text converter is the better choice, because it works out the language of every piece on its own.

What should you check in a Turkish transcript?

The little words and the letter h. In our test the separate “de” was glued to the word before it (“kefalinde” for “kefalin de”), and a quiet h vanished from “ihmalden”, which came back as “imalden”.

  • de / da

Look for “de” and “da” fused to a noun; they change the meaning when attached.

  • Dropped sounds

“Şehir” became “Şiir” and “biçimde” became “bir çimde”.

  • Foreign words

“Banliyö” turned into “banlıyor” and “Meşhed” into “meşet”.

FAQ

Questions about Turkish audio to text

Is the Turkish converter free?

Yes. Transcribe 3 Turkish recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account and every download format included.

Does it work for Turkish spoken in Cyprus or Germany?

It treats every accent as Turkish, because the page has a single Turkish setting. Our tests used Turkish from Turkey, so for a strong regional accent or German words mixed in, try a short clip first.

Does it use quotation marks?

No. Quoted words in our test came back without quotation marks, so the quoted phrase “siyasi gevezelik” simply ran on in the sentence. Add the marks back when you quote someone.

Is my recording uploaded and kept?

The page sends only short pieces of the sound, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service that transcribes and discards them. NoteOwl keeps no audio and no text.

Can I make Turkish subtitles?

Yes. Download the finished transcript as SRT or VTT. Every subtitle carries a start and end time and keeps the Turkish letters.

How accurate is the Turkish transcript?

Clear speech comes back almost word for word with its letters right. Watch for de and da attached to the wrong word, a missing h, and names spelled by sound.
