How it works

How do you transcribe Swedish audio?

Drop the file onto the page. The sound is split at pauses into short pieces, every piece is transcribed as Swedish, and the text appears with timestamps as the work goes on. Copy the Swedish transcript or download it when it’s finished.

    Choose a recording

A röstmemo from an iPhone, a voice message, a recorded lecture, an MP3 interview or an MP4.

TXT, Word, or SRT and VTT subtitles in Swedish.

Does it write å, ä and ö?

Yes, everywhere. Our Swedish test transcript used å, ä and ö in words such as “många”, “nötter”, “hårt” and “förlorade”, punctuated almost every sentence, and capitalised the start of each one.

A vowel can still slip where two sound close: “Månens” (the Moon’s) came back as “Månans”. Read words that hang on a single vowel.

How are Swedish times and numbers written?

Often the way Swedes say them. In our test a time printed as 6.30 in the text being read came back as “halv sju”, while another came back as “23.35”. Counts such as “nitton” and “elva” usually became digits.

Times printed 6.30 and 7.30
In the transcript“halv sju och halv åtta”
A time printed 23:35
In the transcript“23.35”
“nitton av de skadade”
In the transcript“19 av de skadade”
“nummer sexton”
In the transcript“nummer 16”
“sju skepp”

Why set the converter to Swedish?

Because Norwegian and Danish are so close to Swedish that a short piece can be mislabelled when the language is guessed, and then spelled with ø or æ. Fixed to Swedish, every piece is written with Swedish spelling.

Recordings that switch between Swedish and English for long stretches, normal in many Swedish workplaces, are better on the main audio to text converter, which finds the language of each piece.

Does it work for Finland Swedish and regional accents?

It treats them all as Swedish, since there is one Swedish setting. Our tests used speakers from Sweden. Finland Swedish has its own pronunciation and some words of its own, and dialects such as skånska differ too, so try a short clip first.

What should you check in a Swedish transcript?

Passive verbs, compounds and words that sound alike. In our test “rekommenderas” lost its -s and became “rekommenderar”, which turns “travellers are advised” into “travellers advise”.

  • Compounds

“rullskridskohockey” came back with a hyphen, and “internetmaterial” as two words.

  • Sound-alikes

“Fissionsbomben” became “Fusionsbomben” and “Brandkåren” became “Blankåren”.

  • Short terms

“AI” was written “AL”. Read acronyms against the audio.

  • Names

The author Oravec came out as “Åra veck”.

FAQ

Questions about Swedish audio to text

Is it free to transcribe Swedish here?

Yes. You can run 3 files a day through it, each up to 30 minutes, with no account, and every download format is free too.

What if the recording has Norwegian or Danish in it?

This page reads every piece as Swedish. For long passages in Norwegian or Danish, use the main converter, which detects the language of each piece by itself, or NoteOwl’s converters set to those languages.

Does it use quotation marks?

No. Quotes in our test came back without quotation marks or brackets, so a quoted phrase runs on in the sentence. Add the marks where they matter.

Is my Swedish recording saved?

No. Only short pieces of sound leave your browser, over a secure connection, for a cloud AI transcription service that transcribes and deletes them. NoteOwl stores no audio and no text.

Can I make Swedish subtitles?

Yes. Download SRT or VTT when the transcript is done; every line carries its start and end time and keeps å, ä and ö.
