How it works
How do you get Turkish subtitles from an English SRT?
Drop the SRT or VTT here; Turkish is already set as the target. Press Translate: the text of the subtitles goes out a few neighbouring subtitles at a time and is written back into the file at the old times. Look over the Turkish, then download it.
- 1
Pick the subtitle file
SRT or VTT, in English or any language in the From list. An English file is recognised on its own.
- 2
Turkish replaces the text
Neighbouring subtitles are read together, so a sentence cut in two still makes sense in Turkish.
- 3
Save it
As a Turkish SRT, a Turkish VTT, or a bilingual SRT carrying both languages.
What happens to a sentence split across two subtitles?
Turkish puts the verb last, so the two halves are translated together and then shared back between the two subtitles, each at its own time. The Turkish half may not mirror the English half word for word, but the pair reads as one sentence.
You can see the order change in a single line from our test: “The teachers were tired after the trip” became “Geziden sonra öğretmenler yorgundu”, with “after the trip” moved to the front and “were tired” to the very end.
Will Turkish subtitles say sen or siz?
Siz, in every line of our test: “gönderebilir misiniz?” for “can you send”, “bilirsiniz” for “you know”, and “Lütfen oturun, efendim” for “Please sit down, sir”. That fits lessons, interviews and company videos; for a chatty vlog, switch lines to sen in the downloaded file.
How are prices, dates and times written in Turkish?
The Turkish way: the percent word comes before the number, decimals take a comma, thousands a full stop, and times use the 24-hour clock, with a suffix after an apostrophe. You shouldn’t need to retype any of it for viewers in Turkey.

Do Turkish subtitles fit in the same time on screen?
Usually without trouble. In our test, Turkish ran about the same length as the English it came from. Each subtitle keeps its time and is laid out again in at most 2 lines of about 42 characters, broken between words.
If one translation does come out long, that subtitle simply gets two fuller lines; it never gains a third line or borrows time from the next subtitle.
How good is the Turkish translation?
In our test, translation from English into Turkish scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Turkish letters such as ı, ş and ğ come out in place, and names keep their spelling: “Dr. Patel ve Maria Lopez”.
Turkish has no separate words for he and she, so “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Doktorumuz yarın geri arayacağını söyledi”, which leaves the doctor’s gender open, just as a Turkish speaker would say it.
Working with Turkish recordings as well?
NoteOwl understands Turkish on your Mac (see its languages): it transcribes recordings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and saves SRT subtitles with their names. For subtitles of Turkish speech taken straight from a video, use the Turkish subtitle generator.
FAQ
Questions about Turkish subtitle translation
Can I translate subtitles to Turkish for free?
Yes. You can translate 3 files a day into Turkish, each with up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, without an account and without anything added to the file.
Which languages can be translated into Turkish?
English and every other language in the From list, for example German, Russian or Greek. Leave the list on Detect automatically and the page works out the file’s language.
Will the Turkish subtitles stay in sync?
Yes. Start and end times and subtitle numbers are copied over unchanged, so the Turkish file sits on the video exactly where the original one did.
Can viewers see the original and the Turkish at once?
Yes. The bilingual SRT puts the original line above the Turkish one in every subtitle, at the same time. It helps people learning Turkish, and anyone checking the translation line by line.
Are Turkish subtitles written in the formal or casual style?
Formal. Our test lines came back with siz throughout, including casual phrases like “you know”. If your video speaks to friends, change siz forms to sen forms in the file you download.
Is my subtitle file uploaded?
Your browser opens the file itself. Only the subtitle text travels, in batches over a secure connection, to a cloud AI translation service that translates it and keeps nothing. NoteOwl stores neither the original nor the Turkish file.
