How it works

How do you translate English speech into Korean?

To translate English audio to Korean, drop the recording here. It is transcribed as English, piece by piece, and the transcript is then translated into Korean a batch of lines at a time, each line keeping the moment it was said. Read the Korean, then copy or save it.

  1. 1

    Choose the English audio

An MP3, M4A, WAV or other file: a webinar, a call with a partner, a lecture or a voice note.

  2. 2

    Transcript, then translation

English words first, Korean second, for up to 30 minutes of each recording.

  3. 3

    Save it

Copy the Korean, or download TXT or Word. Show → Original returns to the English.

What comes back from an English recording?

A Korean transcript in Hangul, paragraph by paragraph, each with the time it was spoken. Save it as text or as a Word file headed with the recording’s name, its length and “Translated: English → Korean”; the English transcript saves separately under Original.

Which speech level does the Korean transcript use?

Polite. “Thank you all for coming today” became the formal “오늘 와주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다.”, and “Can you send me the report…?” the courteous “보내주실 수 있나요?”. Our short test mixed 합니다 and 해요 endings, so for a report, choose one.

In a longer test of 50 news sentences, every one ended in the formal 합니다 style, which suits a report. Spoken asides, like “you know” (“아시다시피”), came back in the softer 해요 style that sounds like talk.

How does the Korean show respect for people who are mentioned?

With honorific grammar instead of pronouns. “Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow” became “의사 선생님께서 내일 다시 전화 주시겠다고 하셨어요.”: 께서 and the verb ending honour the doctor, and nothing says whether the doctor is a man or a woman.

  • 선생님

Used for “sir” (“자리에 앉아 주세요, 선생님.”) and for “teachers” (“선생님들은”): a title of respect.

  • No “she”

Korean usually leaves gender out; check the English when it matters who is meant.

  • Your own team

Honorifics for colleagues may read as too formal in internal notes; adjust as your company does.

Are English names kept in the Korean?

Often in Latin letters, with Korean particles joined on: “Dr. Patel과 Maria Lopez가”. In a longer test, famous names were written in Hangul instead, such as 라오닉 for Raonic. Search the transcript both ways, and remember a name misheard in English stays misheard.

Meetings in English and Korean every week?

NoteOwl understands Korean and English on your Mac: meetings in either get unlimited transcription, every speaker is labelled, and you can search the whole history later. For English words from an English recording, audio to text is enough.

FAQ

English recordings in Korean: questions

Is the English to Korean audio translator free?

Yes. Up to 3 recordings a day, of up to 30 minutes each, need no account, and every download is included.

How good is the Korean?

In our test of 50 sentences, translation into Korean scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Speech level, names and honorifics are worth a read before you share it.

Can I give the Korean to a colleague as a Word file?

Yes. Word saves a .ko.docx with the recording’s name, its length and the line “Translated: English → Korean”, then the paragraphs, with or without times.

Does it produce Korean speech?

No. The Korean is written, as text, Word or subtitles; there is no Korean voice.

What if some people speak Korean in the recording?

This page takes every part as English. For a call that goes back and forth between English and Korean, use the main audio translator with Detect automatically.

Is anything stored?

No. The browser sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service and the English text to a cloud AI translation service, which discard them once they reply. NoteOwl keeps no recording and no transcript.
