How it works

How do you add Korean subtitles to an English video?

To translate an English video to Korean, drop the video on this page. Your browser takes out the sound; the English is transcribed, translated into Korean and laid out as Hangul subtitles inside the time each English sentence takes. Download the Korean SRT for your channel or editor.

  1. 1

    Drop in the video

An English MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM. Only the sound is sent; the picture stays put.

  2. 2

    Korean subtitles are laid out

Transcribed, translated, then cut into Korean subtitles, for up to 30 minutes of each video.

  3. 3

    Save the .ko.srt

Or a VTT. Switch to Original for English subtitles with the same timing.

How much room do Korean subtitles need on screen?

About a third more than English. Korean uses about half the characters, but a line holds only 16, and a subtitle stays up long enough to read at 12 characters a second. So a long English sentence can become two Korean subtitles.

That is why the Korean is laid out after translation, on its own terms: its subtitles needn’t match the English ones one for one, and each still appears while its English sentence is being spoken.

Where do Korean subtitles split a sentence?

At the spaces between words, keeping particles attached. In our check, the meeting sentence became “회의는 2026년 / 10월 16일” and then “오후 3시 30분에 있습니다.”, and Maria Lopez was split between two subtitles: “Dr. Patel과 Maria”, then “Lopez가 세션을…”.

Names in Latin letters are the thing to look for: join a split name by moving it into one subtitle in the SRT. The times don’t need to change.

Do Korean subtitles keep the English word order?

No. Korean puts the verb at the end, so a sentence can’t be cut where the English was. The page translates the whole line first, then splits the Korean at its own natural points, so viewers read natural Korean, verb last, while the speaker may have said that verb first.

How do numbers and exclamations look in Korean subtitles?

Digits with Korean counters, and the usual ! and ?. “6.5 percent” became “6.5퍼센트”, the dollar figure stayed “$1,250” with a particle joined on, and “Wow! That’s amazing!” became “와! 정말 놀랍네요!”, which fits one line.

Viewers are addressed politely throughout, which suits tutorials and brand channels. In our test of 50 sentences, translation into Korean scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with.

The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.

FAQ

Korean subtitles for English videos: questions

Is the English to Korean video translator free?

Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, without an account or a watermark. You can download the Korean and the English subtitles.

Does it dub the video in Korean?

No. It writes Korean subtitles and leaves the sound and picture untouched.

How do I add Korean subtitles on YouTube?

Open YouTube Studio, go to Subtitles, choose the video, add Korean and upload the .ko.srt with timing. Korean then joins the languages viewers can pick in the player.

Can the subtitles be more casual?

Yes. They come back polite; for a laid-back channel, change sentence endings in the SRT to the casual style your audience expects. The timing stays the same.

Will Hangul show up when I burn in the subtitles?

Yes, if your editor uses a font with Korean characters. Without one, the subtitles appear as empty boxes.

Is the video uploaded?

No. Only short pieces of its sound go to a cloud AI transcription service, and the English text to a cloud AI translation service; both discard what they receive. The picture stays on your device.
