How it works

How do you get a Slovak transcript from an English recording?

To translate English audio to Slovak, drop the recording here. It is transcribed as English in short pieces, then the lines are translated into Slovak in batches, each keeping the moment it was said. Copy the Slovak or save it as text or Word.

  1. 1

    Drop in the English audio

A podcast, an interview, a talk or a call, as MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.

  2. 2

    English text, then Slovak

Transcribed first, translated second. Up to 30 minutes of any recording.

  3. 3

    Take the Slovak

Copy it or save TXT or Word; Original shows the English with the same times.

What does the Slovak transcript contain?

The Slovak text in paragraphs, each led by the time it starts in the recording. The Word version adds a header with the recording’s length, “Translated: English → Slovak” and the date. Slovak came out a little shorter than English in our test.

Will the Slovak sound formal or casual?

It can switch between the two. In our test, Slovak used the formal vy in some lines and the familiar ty in others: “Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal” became “No, vieš, je to tak trochu veľká vec”, with the familiar vieš.

For an interview you will quote, pick one register for each speaker and adjust the rest. Speaking to a room is unaffected: “Thank you all for coming today” became “Ďakujem vám všetkým za to, že ste dnes prišli”, the plural that addresses everyone.

How does Slovak handle “she” and groups?

It follows “she” when English gives it: “Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow” became “Naša lekárka povedala”, a female doctor. A group with no hint, “The teachers were tired after the trip”, became the masculine “Učitelia boli po výlete unavení”.

For a group of women only, the Slovak would read “Učiteľky boli unavené”.

Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow.
SlovakNaša lekárka povedala, že zavolá späť zajtra.
The teachers were tired after the trip.
SlovakUčitelia boli po výlete unavení.

Are English names left as they are?

Yes: “Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez will lead the session” became “Dr. Patel a Maria Lopez povedú sedenie”. In other sentences Slovak attaches endings to foreign names, as in “podľahol Raonicovi”, so to find a person in the transcript, type just the first part of the name.

How good is English to Slovak translation here?

Good. In our test of fifty English sentences, translation into Slovak scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. The mixed vy and ty is the thing most worth tidying before you share the transcript.

FAQ

Questions about English recordings in Slovak

Is the English to Slovak audio translator free?

Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account. The Slovak, the English transcript and all downloads are included.

Can I save the Slovak as a Word file?

Yes. The Word document carries the recording’s name and length, “Translated: English → Slovak” and the date, then the Slovak paragraphs, with times if you leave them on.

Can it translate an English podcast episode into Slovak?

Yes, if you have the episode as an audio file. Anything past 30 minutes is left out, and the page tells you so.

What if someone in the recording speaks Slovak or Czech?

This page transcribes all speech as English. For a mixed-language recording, the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically is the right tool.

Are speakers named in the Slovak transcript?

No. It contains words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.

Is my recording uploaded?

The file stays with you. Short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the English text to a cloud AI translation service, and each throws away what it was sent. NoteOwl stores nothing.
