How it works
How do you translate an English recording into Greek?
To translate English audio to Greek, drop the recording on this page; English speech in, Greek text out is already set. The English is transcribed piece by piece, then every line is translated into Greek with the time it was said. Read the Greek and save it.
- 1
Drop the English audio in
An MP3, M4A, WAV or other audio file: a seminar, a call, a podcast episode.
- 2
Transcribed, then translated
English first, then Greek, for up to 30 minutes of each recording.
- 3
Save the Greek transcript
Copy it or download it as text or a Word document; the English is under Original.
What does the Greek transcript look like?
Greek paragraphs in the Greek alphabet, each with the time it was spoken, ready to copy or save as text or Word. Expect it to run about a tenth longer than the English, which is normal for Greek. The English transcript keeps the same times.
The Word file starts with the recording’s length and “Translated: English → Greek”, which helps when the transcript is passed to a Greek-speaking colleague or filed with the recording.
Is the Greek polite or casual?
Mostly polite, with the plural εσείς forms Greek uses for an audience or a stranger. One test line slipped into the familiar form, so if your transcript is formal, look for lines like the last one below and make them polite.
- Thank you all for coming today.
- GreekΣας ευχαριστώ όλους που ήρθατε σήμερα.
- Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal.
- GreekΛοιπόν, ξέρετε, είναι λίγο μεγάλη υπόθεση.
- Please sit down, sir.
- GreekΠαρακαλώ κάθισε, κύριε.

Does the Greek get he and she right?
Not always. Greek gives every noun a gender, and English often doesn’t say one. “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Ο γιατρός μας είπε…”, a male doctor; for a woman, Greek says “Η γιατρός”. Fix those where you know who was meant.
“The teachers were tired after the trip” became “Οι δάσκαλοι ήταν κουρασμένοι”, the masculine plural Greek uses for a mixed group; if the teachers were all women, it would be “Οι δασκάλες”.
How reliable is the Greek translation?
Close to a dedicated translation system: in our test, translation from English into Greek scored just under it, within the margin we set. It can only work from what the English transcript heard, so a misheard word stays misheard in Greek. Names keep their Latin spelling.

FAQ
Questions about translating English audio into Greek
Is the English to Greek audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account. The Greek transcript, the English one and every download are part of it.
Does the Word document show Greek letters properly?
Yes. The Word file is made in your browser with the Greek text as written, so it opens in Word, Pages or Google Docs with the Greek alphabet intact.
Can it read the Greek aloud?
No. The translation is written: text, a Word document or subtitle files. There is no Greek audio.
What if part of the recording is in Greek already?
This page transcribes every part as English. For a recording that changes language, use the main audio translator with the spoken language left on Detect automatically.
Are speaker names included?
No. The Greek transcript has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in its transcripts.
Is my recording sent anywhere?
Your browser keeps the file. Short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service, then the English text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent. NoteOwl stores nothing.
