How it works
How do you translate an English recording into Spanish?
To translate English audio to Spanish, drop the recording on this page: it’s set to English speech and Spanish text. The English is transcribed in short pieces, then each line is translated, keeping the time it was said. Read the Spanish, check a line against the English, and download.
- 1
Drop in the English recording
An MP3, M4A, WAV or other audio file: an interview, a class, a call or a voice message.
- 2
English, then Spanish
The speech is written down in English, then translated. Up to 30 minutes of each recording.

Save the Spanish transcript
Copy it, or save it as text or a Word document; the English transcript is one click away.
What do you get from an English recording?
A Spanish transcript in paragraphs, each with the time it was said, ready to copy or save as a Word document headed “Translated: English → Spanish”. The English transcript, with the same times, is saved separately.
A 2:19 English test recording came back as a Spanish transcript in about 15 seconds. Times matter in a translated transcript: when a Spanish line reads oddly, the time takes you straight to the English words in the recording.
How does spoken English come out in Spanish?
As natural Spanish rather than word for word. In our test, “Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal” became “Bueno, ya sabes, es algo importante”: the filler kept its meaning and the hedge disappeared. Quote from the Spanish with that in mind.
Fillers
“You know” and “I mean” come out as their everyday Spanish equivalents, or drop away.
Questions
Spanish questions open with ¿, which the English transcript never had.
Names
People and places stay as the English transcript spelled them.
Does “you” become tú or usted?
It depends on the line. Everyday questions came back with tú (“¿Puedes enviarme el informe?”), and a line with “sir” became usted (“siéntese, señor”). For a formal interview, read the Spanish for tú forms and change those that should be usted.
What should you check in the Spanish transcript?
Misheard words, numbers and genders. A word misheard in English stays misheard: our test recording said “Sie”, the transcript heard “say”, and the Spanish kept “say”. Numbers keep English style (6.5, $1,250), and Spanish must pick a gender English never gave.

FAQ
Questions about translating English audio into Spanish
Is the English to Spanish audio translator free?
Yes. Translate 3 recordings a day, up to 30 minutes of each, with no account. The Spanish transcript, the English one and every download are included.
Can I get the Spanish as a Word document?
Yes. Download Word: the document carries the recording’s name, its length and the line “Translated: English → Spanish”, then the Spanish paragraphs, each with its time unless you turn times off.
Will it read the Spanish out loud?
No. It writes the Spanish as text, Word or subtitles; it doesn’t make a Spanish voice recording.
What if some of the recording is already in Spanish?
This page is set to English speech, so every part is transcribed as English. For a recording that switches between the two, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Does it label who is speaking?
No. The Spanish transcript has the words and times without speaker names. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Your browser reads it and sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service, then the English text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent. NoteOwl stores no audio and no text.
