How it works

How do you translate English audio into Vietnamese?

To translate English audio to Vietnamese, drop the recording here. The page writes the English down in short pieces, then turns the transcript into Vietnamese a batch of lines at a time, every line keeping when it was said. Read it through, then copy or save the Vietnamese.

  1. 1

    Drop the English recording

A training session, a client call, an interview or a voice note, as MP3, M4A, WAV or another audio file.

  2. 2

    English, then Vietnamese

Transcribed first, translated second, for up to 30 minutes of each recording.

  3. 3

    Keep the transcript

Copy the Vietnamese or save TXT or Word; Show → Original has the English.

What does the Vietnamese transcript give you?

Paragraphs of Vietnamese, each opening with the time it was spoken, written with every tone mark. Copy them into a message, or save a Word file headed with the recording’s name, its length and “Translated: English → Vietnamese”. The English transcript keeps the same times.

How does the Vietnamese address the people in the recording?

With bạn for “you”, the neutral word between peers, and ông for “sir”: “Mời ông ngồi, thưa ông.”. Vietnamese chooses pronouns by age and relationship, so a transcript of a talk with a senior client or an older relative may read better with anh, chị, ông or bà.

  • Questions

“Can you send me the report before Friday?” became “Bạn có thể gửi báo cáo cho tôi trước thứ Sáu không?”.

  • Thanks

“Thank you all for coming today” became “Cảm ơn tất cả mọi người đã đến ngày hôm nay.”.

  • Fillers

“Well, you know…” became “Chà, bạn biết đấy…”, a spoken Vietnamese opener.

Is “she” kept in the Vietnamese?

Yes, and it carries an age too. “Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow” became “Bác sĩ của chúng tôi nói rằng cô ấy sẽ gọi lại vào ngày mai.”: cô ấy marks a woman, usually a younger one. For an older doctor, bà ấy is the respectful choice.

Groups stay neutral: “The teachers were tired after the trip” became “Các giáo viên đã rất mệt sau chuyến đi.”, saying nothing about men or women. When a person matters, the time beside the paragraph takes you back to the English.

What if the English is misheard?

Then the Vietnamese repeats the mistake, as it translates the English transcript, not the sound. Names are the usual slip. If a Vietnamese line looks odd, switch Show to Original, read the English at the same time, and replay that moment of the recording.

FAQ

English recordings in Vietnamese: questions

Is the English to Vietnamese audio translator free?

Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, without an account; every download is included.

How good is the Vietnamese?

In our test of 50 sentences, translation into Vietnamese scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Pronouns are the first thing to adjust for the people involved.

Can I send the Vietnamese as a Word document?

Yes. Choose Word for a .vi.docx with the recording’s details at the top and the Vietnamese paragraphs below, times included unless you switch them off.

Will the tone marks survive copy and paste?

Yes. The text is ordinary Unicode, so the marks stay when you paste it into email, chat apps or a document.

Does it make a Vietnamese voice-over?

No. It writes Vietnamese; it doesn’t speak it or change the recording.

Is my recording stored?

No. Short pieces of the sound go from your browser to a cloud AI transcription service, the English text to a cloud AI translation service, and each discards it after replying. NoteOwl stores neither audio nor text.
