How it works

How do you translate a Galician recording into English?

To translate Galician audio to English, drop the recording on this page. It is transcribed as Galician in short pieces, then each line is put into English with its time. Read the English transcript, and open Original for the exact Galician wording.

  1. 1

    Add the recording

An interview, a lecture, a family recording or a voice note, as MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.

  2. 2

    Galician, then English

Transcribed in Galician, then translated, for the first 30 minutes of each file.

  3. 3

    Save the English

Copy it or download text or Word; the Galician transcript downloads separately.

How does spoken Galician read in English?

Naturally, on the whole: Galician speech came out good in English in our test. Missing subjects are filled in (“Perdeu recentemente contra Raonic” became “He recently lost to Raonic”) and times move to English style, as these lines show.

EnglishExactly at 8:46 a.m., silence fell over the city…

Does Spanish-influenced Galician cause problems?

Not for the English, as a rule. The Galician transcript sometimes writes a Spanish or Portuguese spelling, such as oxígeno for osíxeno; the word means the same, so its English is the same. If you’ll quote the Galician itself, tidy those spellings.

What should you check in the English?

Names and rarer words. Galician transcription slips most on those (Aerosmith came back as “Aero Smith” in our transcription test), and a misheard word is translated as misheard. Check who is named, and any technical term, against the recording.

Why does the English sometimes choose “he” or “she”?

Because Galician, like Spanish, often leaves out who did something, and English needs a subject. The translator reads lines in batches, so the conversation around a line usually decides; when it can’t, check the moment in the recording.

Recording in Spanish, Portuguese or English too?

NoteOwl understands Spanish, Portuguese and English on your Mac, though not Galician: it transcribes recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps them searchable. For a Galician transcript only, use Galician audio to text.

FAQ

Questions about translating Galician audio into English

Is the Galician to English audio translator free?

Yes. 3 recordings a day, the first 30 minutes of each, without an account; the English, the Galician transcript and every download are included.

What if the speakers switch to Spanish?

This page writes every part as Galician first. For a conversation that moves between Galician and Spanish, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.

Can I keep the Galician transcript?

Yes. Switch the result to Original for the Galician, with the same times as the English, and save it as text or SRT.

Can I save the English as a Word document?

Yes. The Word file opens with the recording’s length, the date and “Translated: Galician → English”, then the English paragraphs with their times.

Does it name the speakers?

No. The English has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. Your browser sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service and the Galician text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
