How it works
How do you translate a German recording into Spanish?
To translate German audio to Spanish, drop the recording on this page. It is set to German, so each short piece of speech is written in German; the lines are then translated in batches and every Spanish line keeps its time. Original switches back to the German.

Drop in the German recording
A team meeting, a lecture, an interview or a voice message from Berlin, Vienna or Zurich.
- 2

Copy the Spanish, or download TXT or Word.
How does the Spanish know whether Sie meant “you” or “they”?
From the transcript and the lines around it. Spoken, the polite Sie (you) and sie (she, they) sound identical; only the capital letter tells them apart, and the transcript has to choose it. The Spanish then writes usted, ella or ellos. Check lines where it matters.
Du matches tú, and Sie, when it means “you”, matches usted; ihr, said to a group, matches vosotros in Spain or ustedes in Latin America.
What happens when the German verb comes last?
It moves forward in Spanish. German often keeps a participle or infinitive for the end: “Piquet Jr. wurde nach dem Ungarischen Grand Prix in 2009 gefeuert” became “Piquet Jr. fue despedido después del Gran Premio de Hungría en 2009”. Lines are translated with their neighbours in view.
A whole infinitive group travels the same way: “seine Gewinnquellen diversifizieren zu können” became “poder diversificar sus fuentes de ingresos”, with the verbs first, as Spanish puts them.
How is German speech written down before it is translated?
Cleanly, with umlauts, ß and capitalised nouns. Long compounds are where the transcript wavers: our test wrote “Unterwasser-Topologie” for Unterwassertopologie and “Nord Kivu” for Nord-Kivu. Dates arrive in German form, “Am 15. August 1940”, with a dot after the day.
How natural is the Spanish from German?
Natural, in ten test sentences with a professional Spanish version beside them, with one German habit carried over: “bei den Brisbane Open” became “en los Brisbane Open”, where Spanish says “el”. Times dropped the Uhr: “a las 8:46”.

FAQ
Questions about translating German audio into Spanish
Is the German to Spanish audio translator free?
Yes, without an account: 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes. The Spanish, the German transcript and the downloads are all part of it.
Does it work for Austrian and Swiss speakers?
The page has a single German setting, so standard German is handled the same way whatever the accent. Our test recordings came from Germany. Swiss German dialect differs a lot from the standard, so try a short clip first if your recording is in dialect.
Can I read the German and the Spanish side by side?
Switch between them: the result shows the Spanish, and Original shows the German, with the same times, so any line can be matched.
What if part of the recording is in Spanish?
Here every part is written down as German. For a recording that switches between the two, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Does it read the Spanish out loud?
No. It writes Spanish text you can copy or download; it doesn’t produce speech.
Where does the audio go?
Your browser sends short pieces of it to a cloud AI transcription service, and the German text to a cloud AI translation service; both discard what they get. NoteOwl stores no audio and no text.
