How it works
How do you translate a Hebrew recording into English?
To translate Hebrew audio to English, drop the recording here; the page is set to Hebrew speech and English text. It is transcribed in Hebrew in short pieces, then every line is translated and keeps its time. Read the English, and switch to the Hebrew to check a line.
- 1
Drop in the Hebrew recording
A voice message from family, a call, a class or an interview: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or AAC.
- 2
Hebrew first, then English
Written down in Hebrew, then translated. Up to 30 minutes of each recording.
- 3
Copy or save the English
As text or Word, or switch to Original for the Hebrew, read right to left.
Why do names come back misspelled from Hebrew?
Hebrew writes names without vowels, so the English has to guess how they sound. In our test, Raonic came back as “Raunik”, Brisbane as “Brisbein”, and Piquet Jr. as “Fikt the son”. Check every name against the recording before you quote it.

How well is spoken Hebrew transcribed?
Well enough that its speech into English rated good in our test. The Hebrew transcript makes spelling slips in names and borrowed words more than in everyday vocabulary, and the English carries those slips over, since a misheard word is translated as heard.
What does English lose from Hebrew?
Mainly gender. Hebrew verbs show whether “you” is a man, a woman or a group, and English “you” can’t. When it matters who was being addressed, the Hebrew transcript, with the same times as the English, still has the answer.
Times come across as the Hebrew had them: “ב-08:46 בדיוק” became “At 08:46 exactly”, leading zero and all.
Can you quote from the English transcript?
Yes, with the Hebrew beside you. Every English paragraph carries the time it was spoken, so you can find the same moment in the Hebrew transcript or the recording and confirm names, numbers and wording before the quote goes anywhere.

FAQ
Questions about translating Hebrew audio into English
Is the Hebrew to English audio translator free?
Yes. Translate 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, without signing up. The English, the Hebrew transcript and all the downloads are included.
Can I translate a Hebrew WhatsApp voice note?
Yes. Export the voice note from the chat as a file, usually OPUS or OGG, and drop it on this page to read it in English with times.
Will I see the Hebrew transcript as well?
Yes. Switch to Original: the Hebrew appears right to left, with the same times as the English, and can be saved as text or SRT.
What if the speakers mix Hebrew and English?
This page writes every part as Hebrew first. For a recording that switches between the two, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Does the English show who is speaking?
No. The web transcript has words and times without names. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Your browser holds the file and sends short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service, then the Hebrew text to a cloud AI translation service. Both discard what they receive, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
