How it works
How do you translate Lithuanian audio into English?
To translate Lithuanian audio to English, add the recording; the page is set to Lithuanian speech and English text. The recording is transcribed in Lithuanian piece by piece, then each line is translated and keeps its time. Read the English, then check names in the Lithuanian.
- 1
Choose the Lithuanian recording
A voice message from Vilnius, a phone call, an interview or a lecture: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or AAC.
- 2
Lithuanian, then English
Written down in Lithuanian, then translated. Up to 30 minutes of each recording.
- 3
Use the English
Copy it, save text or Word, or switch to the Lithuanian original with the same times.
Why do names come out oddly from Lithuanian?
Because Lithuanian puts endings on names, and the translation sometimes keeps them. In our test, “Raonikui”, Raonic with a “to” ending, stayed “Raonikui” in English, and Brisbane in a case form came back as “Brussels”. Check every name against the recording.
How well is Lithuanian speech understood?
Well enough for the meaning to come through, though its speech into English scored lower than most languages in our test. Names and borrowed words are the likeliest spelling slips in the Lithuanian transcript, and a misheard word is translated as heard.
Clear speech, one person at a time and a microphone close to the speaker help most. The Lithuanian transcript keeps the same times as the English, so a doubtful line takes seconds to find and play again.
What happens to Lithuanian dates and times?
They take English form. In our test, “8.46 val.” became “8:46”, the full stop turning into a colon, and “2009 m.”, the year with its abbreviation, became plain “2009”. Check figures that matter against the recording at that line’s time.
- Tiksliai 8.46 val. miestas nuščiuvo
- English translationAt exactly 8:46 the city fell silent
- Piquet Jr buvo atleistas po 2009 m. Vengrijos didžiojo prizo.
- English translationPiquet Jr was dismissed after the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix.

What is lost between Lithuanian and English?
The polite jūs and the familiar tu both become “you”, so a transcript in English can’t show how formally people spoke. English also has to add “the” and “a”, which Lithuanian doesn’t use. The Lithuanian transcript keeps what the English smooths over.
Recording conversations in Lithuanian?
Lithuanian is among the languages NoteOwl understands on a Mac: it transcribes recordings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps every conversation searchable. For a Lithuanian transcript with no translation, use Lithuanian audio to text.
FAQ
Lithuanian audio into English: questions
Is the Lithuanian to English audio translator free?
Yes. It handles 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account. You get the English transcript, the Lithuanian transcript and every download.
Can I translate a Lithuanian voice message?
Yes. Save it from WhatsApp or Telegram as a file, often OGG or OPUS, and drop it on the page. The English comes back with the time of each line.
Can I save the Lithuanian transcript too?
Yes. Switch to Original to read the Lithuanian, then save it as text or SRT. Its times match the English line for line.
What if part of the recording is in English or Russian?
This page writes everything as Lithuanian first. For a recording that mixes languages, use the main audio translator and choose Detect automatically for the spoken language.
Will the transcript name the speakers?
No. The English transcript has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Your browser keeps the file and sends short pieces of its sound to a cloud AI transcription service, then the Lithuanian text to a cloud AI translation service. Both discard what they receive; NoteOwl stores nothing.
