How it works
How do you translate a Portuguese recording into Spanish?
Drop the recording on this page to translate Portuguese audio to Spanish. It listens only for Portuguese, writes the speech down in short pieces, and sends the lines for translation in batches. Each Spanish line keeps the time of the Portuguese it came from.
- 1
Pick the Portuguese recording
A supplier call from São Paulo, a lecture from Lisbon, a WhatsApp voice note saved as a file.
- 2
Portuguese, then Spanish
Written down in Portuguese, then put into Spanish. Up to 30 minutes per recording.
- 3
Use the Spanish
Copy it, or save it as TXT or a Word document; the Portuguese is under Original.
Does você become tú or usted?
It has to become one of them. Brazilian você is the everyday “you” and sits between Spanish tú and usted, so the Spanish chooses from context. The polite o senhor and a senhora match usted. For a business call, check that one form runs through the transcript.
Why does the Spanish say “él” so often?
Because Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese above all, names the subject more often than Spanish, and the translation can keep it. “Ele recentemente perdeu” came back as “Él perdió recientemente”: correct, but heavier than a Spanish writer would make it. You can drop the él.
Which Portuguese words come out too close in Spanish?
Words that look the same in both languages. “Fontes de lucro” came back as “fuentes de lucro”, where the Spanish original of that sentence says “fuentes de ingresos”, and “abalou bastante as relações” became “sacudió bastante las relaciones”, close to the Portuguese and a little stiff.
Brazilian vocabulary was understood: “o ônibus da banda” became “el autobús de la banda”, and “Às 8:46 da manhã” became “A las 8:46 de la mañana”. The look-alikes are what to read twice.
How well is Portuguese speech written down first?
Very cleanly, in our transcription test with Brazilian speakers: ã, õ, ç and hyphenated pronouns such as “acredita-se” all came through. Foreign names were the slips, “Shenzhen” for Schengen and “Vicky” for Vichy, and a misheard name reaches the Spanish as it was misheard.
How close is the Spanish to a human translation?
Close, in ten test sentences with a professional Spanish version beside them: “Piquet Jr. foi demitido” became “Piquet Jr. fue despedido”, the right word. Two more lines:
- Quinze dessas rochas são atribuídas à chuva de meteoritos que ocorreu em julho do ano passado.
- SpanishQuince de estas rocas se atribuyen a la lluvia de meteoritos que ocurrió en julio del año pasado.
- O brasileiro sofreu um ferimento grave na cabeça depois de uma colisão no Grande Prêmio da Hungria de 2009.
- SpanishEl brasileño sufrió una herida grave en la cabeza tras una colisión en el Gran Premio de Hungría de 2009.

FAQ
Questions about translating Portuguese audio into Spanish
Is the Portuguese to Spanish audio translator free?
Yes. Up to 3 recordings a day, each as long as 30 minutes, with no account. Both transcripts and every download are included.
Does it work for Portuguese from Portugal?
Yes. The page treats every Portuguese accent the same way, as there is no regional option. Our transcription test used Brazilian speakers, so that is the Portuguese we can describe.
Can I keep the Portuguese transcript?
Yes. Switch to Original to read it, with the same times as the Spanish, and save it as TXT or SRT.
What happens if someone speaks Spanish in the recording?
This page transcribes everything as Portuguese. For a conversation that switches language, use the main audio translator with Detect automatically as the spoken language.
Will I hear the Spanish?
No. The result is written Spanish, on screen or as a file; nothing is read aloud.
Is the audio uploaded anywhere?
Only in short pieces, to a cloud AI transcription service, and the Portuguese text to a cloud AI translation service; both discard what they receive. NoteOwl stores no audio and no text.
