How it works
How do you translate a Slovenian recording into English?
To translate Slovenian audio to English, drop the recording on this page. It is transcribed as Slovenian in short pieces, then translated into English a batch of lines at a time, every line keeping its time. Read the English, and switch to Original to see the Slovenian.

Drop in the Slovenian recording
A lecture from Ljubljana, an interview, a voice message from family: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and more.
- 2

Read or save
Copy the English, or save it as text or Word; the Slovenian transcript saves too.
How well is spoken Slovenian understood?
Fairly well. In our test, Slovenian speech was transcribed with more slips in names and long words than most languages, and its English came out lower than most, though the meaning came through. Expect a readable English transcript that needs a careful look at names and terms.
The time on each paragraph takes you straight to the moment in the recording when a line needs checking, and the Slovenian transcript under Original shows what the English was made from.
What happens to names the transcript mishears?
Some are put right in English, some aren’t. In our test the transcript heard “v Sintro” and “Cabo da Ruka”, and the English gave “Sintra” and “Cabo da Roca”; the bus company it heard as “Scott Terp” stayed “Scott Terp”. Check names before you quote them.
Why does a Slovenian word sometimes come back with another meaning?
Because some words carry two. Slovenian “mesto” is both a city and a place, and a short line gives the translation little to choose by. When an English word looks out of place, read the line with its neighbours in the Slovenian transcript, or listen to that moment again.
How do Slovenian times and place names come into English?
Times keep the 24-hour clock but take a colon: “ob 23.35” became “at 23:35”. Foreign names that Slovenian spells its own way come back in their usual form: “v zvezni državi Misuri” became “in the state of Missouri”.
- …ekipe so ob 23.35 naposled le okrotile požar.
- English…finally managed to subdue the fire at 23:35.
- …v Six Flags St. Louis v zvezni državi Misuri…
- English…to Six Flags St. Louis in the state of Missouri…
- Autobus Scott Terp 403 redno vozi v Sintro…
- EnglishThe Scott Terp 403 bus runs regularly to Sintra…

FAQ
Slovenian audio into English: questions
Is the Slovenian to English audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes long, with no account. Both transcripts and all downloads are included.
Can I get the English as a Word document?
Yes. The Word file is headed with the recording’s name, its length and “Translated: Slovenian → English”, then the English paragraphs with their times, which you can leave out.
Can I translate a Slovenian voice message?
Yes. Save it from WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram as a file, often OPUS or OGG, and drop it on this page. The English comes back line by line with times.
What if the speakers switch into English?
This page writes everything down as Slovenian first. For a recording that mixes both languages, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Are the speakers named?
No. The English transcript has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels every speaker in the recordings it transcribes.
Is the recording uploaded?
The file stays on your device. Short pieces of its sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Slovenian text to a cloud AI translation service; each discards what it was sent, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
