How it works
How do you get English subtitles for a Slovenian video?
To translate a Slovenian video to English, drop it on this page. The sound is taken out in your browser and transcribed as Slovenian, the lines are translated, and the English is laid out as subtitles timed to the speech. Download the SRT or VTT.
- 1
Add the Slovenian video
MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM: a lecture, an interview, a vlog, a clip from home.
- 2
English subtitles are timed
Slovenian speech is written down, then translated. Up to 30 minutes per video.
- 3
Download them
English SRT or VTT; the Slovenian subtitles are under Original.
How do English subtitles follow Slovenian speech?
Closely in time. Slovenian and English ran about the same length in our test, so the English fits the speech: at most 2 lines of 42 characters per subtitle, each shown long enough to read at 17 characters a second and starting as the words are spoken.
The English is cut into subtitles by its own sentences and pauses, after translation, so it can have a few more or fewer subtitles than the Slovenian version under Original.
Can names of events and people come back translated?
Yes, so look at them. “Na odprtem prvenstvu v Brisbaneu” came back as “at the open championship in Brisbane”, where English viewers know the Brisbane Open, and “Piqueta mlajšega” became “the younger Piquet” rather than “Piquet Jr.”. Fix such names in the SRT before publishing.
- Pred kratkim je doživel poraz proti Raoniću na odprtem prvenstvu v Brisbaneu.
- English subtitleHe recently suffered a defeat against Raonić at the open championship in Brisbane.
- …105 milj na uro (165 km/h)…
- English subtitle…105 miles per hour (165 km/h)…
- …med veliko nagrado Madžarske leta 2009.
- English subtitle…during the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix.
| Slovenian | English subtitle |
|---|---|
| Pred kratkim je doživel poraz proti Raoniću na odprtem prvenstvu v Brisbaneu. | He recently suffered a defeat against Raonić at the open championship in Brisbane. |
| …105 milj na uro (165 km/h)… | …105 miles per hour (165 km/h)… |
| …med veliko nagrado Madžarske leta 2009. | …during the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix. |
How dependable is the Slovenian behind the subtitles?
Fair. In our test, Slovenian speech was transcribed with more slips in names and long words than most languages, and its English came out lower than most, though the meaning came through. Subtitles will carry the story; names and specialist words deserve a check against Original.
Do figures and dates survive into the English?
Yes, in English form. “105 milj na uro (165 km/h)” became “105 miles per hour (165 km/h)”, “iz lanskega julija” became “of last July”, and “leta 2009” moved in front of its noun: “the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix”.

FAQ
English subtitles for Slovenian videos: questions
Is the Slovenian to English video translator free?
Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account and no watermark; the English and Slovenian subtitle files both come with it.
Can I watch a Slovenian film with these subtitles?
Up to the first 30 minutes of it. Load the English SRT in a player such as VLC alongside the video file.
Does it change the Slovenian sound?
No. You get English subtitles; the Slovenian voices and the video file stay untouched.
How do I add English subtitles to a Slovenian YouTube video?
In YouTube Studio, open Subtitles, choose the video, add English and upload the SRT with timing. The Slovenian SRT from Original can go up as a second track.
What if the speakers switch to English in places?
This page transcribes the whole video as Slovenian. For one that mixes languages, use the main video translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Slovenian text to a cloud AI translation service, each discarding it afterwards. The picture stays on your device, and NoteOwl keeps nothing.
