How it works
How do you transcribe Slovenian audio?
Add your file and wait a moment. The sound is divided at pauses into short pieces, each piece is written as Slovenian, and the paragraphs line up with their start times, ready to copy or save as a document or subtitles.
- 1
Add a Slovenian recording
A lecture, a radio interview, a voice memo or a recorded meeting, as audio or as a video.
- 2
Slovenian, never guessed
Every piece is written in Slovenian, as far as the first 30 minutes of the file.
- 3
Save the result
Copy the transcript, or keep it as Word, plain text, SRT or VTT.
Why do some words look Croatian?
Because Slovenian and Croatian are close, and a few words came back in a Croatian shape even with Slovenian fixed: zavezničke for zavezniške, crkvah for cerkvah. Fixing the language keeps these to a handful; guessing it could turn whole pieces Croatian.
The same pull shows in borrowed words, where Slovenian writes v: augusta came back for avgusta, Autobus for Avtobus and dinozauri for dinozavri. A search for “au” finds most of them in seconds.
Does it keep the Slovenian dual?
Yes. Dual forms came through as spoken, as in “sta izumrli dve vrsti” and “imata skupen cilj”, and č, š and ž appear wherever they belong, with no ć or đ, which Slovenian does not use in its own words.
How are numbers and dates written?
Mostly as digits with Slovenian punctuation: a date keeps its ordinal dot (15. avgusta 1940) and a time its full stop (23.35). Larger round numbers can come back half in words, such as 10 tisoč.
Read eras carefully: “n. š.” was once expanded as “pred našim štetjem”, the opposite era.

What if a speaker switches to English or another language?
Short English names and brand words stay in Latin letters, as USA Gymnastics and Aerosmith did. When a recording changes language for whole passages, use the main converter, which detects the language of each piece instead of writing everything as Slovenian.
Can NoteOwl understand Slovenian on a Mac?
Yes. Slovenian is one of the languages NoteOwl understands on your Mac, where it transcribes recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps everything searchable without uploading. Dictation, free in the app, types Slovenian into any app.
FAQ
Slovenian audio to text: questions
Is the Slovenian converter free?
It is. You can transcribe 3 Slovenian files a day, the first 30 minutes of each, without registering, and download any format.
Does the transcript have punctuation?
Yes: sentences end with full stops and commas mark the clauses, so the Slovenian transcript reads as text, not a word list. Quotation marks and brackets are left out; add them where you quote someone.
Where does my recording go?
In short pieces, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes and discards each one. NoteOwl stores neither the Slovenian recording nor its text.
Are names spelled correctly?
Slovenian names usually are. Foreign names are spelled by sound and can come back as other words, so compare each one with the audio before you publish.
Can I make Slovenian subtitles?
Yes. Download SRT or VTT: every line has its start and end time and keeps č, š and ž, ready for a video editor or YouTube.
