How it works

How do you make Bosnian subtitles for a video?

Put the video on the page and wait a moment. The sound is written down as Bosnian, one short piece after another, and each piece becomes subtitles of one or two lines timed to the voice. Read the preview, then save SRT or VTT.

  1. 1

    Open a video

An interview, a lecture, a vlog or a wedding speech: MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM, or the audio.

  2. 2

    Bosnian subtitles

The speech comes back in Bosnian, in Latin script, for up to 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Save

SRT for YouTube or a video editor, VTT for a website player, or plain text.

What do Bosnian subtitles look like on screen?

One or two lines of up to 42 characters each, split after commas or between phrases. Every Bosnian test sentence came back with its full stop, and a year keeps its ordinal one, as in 1988. godine.

The 40 test sentences made 91 subtitles; nearly nine in ten were two lines of about 30 characters.

Are Bosnian subtitles in Latin or Cyrillic?

Latin, the script Bosnian uses every day, with č, ć, đ, š and ž saved as UTF-8. Bosnian is also written in Cyrillic; if your audience reads Cyrillic, run the text of the SRT through a Latin-to-Cyrillic converter and keep the times as they are.

Why set the subtitle language to Bosnian?

Because Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian are so close that a guessed language can label a stretch as one of the others and write it that way. Set to Bosnian, the subtitles keep Bosnian, ijekavian forms such as sjeveru, rijetko and vrijeme.

A few ekavian forms still slipped in, such as vreme and nedelju, and once an ije where Bosnian has e: Savjeznici for Saveznici. For a video with whole sentences in English, the main subtitle generator detects each stretch’s language.

What should you check in Bosnian subtitles?

Foreign names and phrases, times, and the odd ekavian word. Everyday Bosnian came back close to what was said; the slips were where the speaker used words from other languages.

  • Place names

Kowloon, in Hong Kong, came back as “kublon”. Check every name against the video.

  • Foreign phrases

The French “bien élevé” came back as “bien elev”, without its accents.

  • Times

11:35 came back as “11.35.”. Pick one way to write times and keep to it.

FAQ

Questions about Bosnian subtitles

Is the Bosnian subtitle generator free?

Yes. It subtitles 3 Bosnian videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, and asks for no account. Nothing carries a watermark.

Will it work for Croatian or Serbian speech?

This page treats every word as Bosnian and writes Bosnian forms, ijekavian and in Latin script, so it suits videos spoken in Bosnian.

Can it make English subtitles from Bosnian speech?

No, the subtitles are in the Bosnian that is spoken; nothing is translated. Translate the SRT’s text and keep its numbers and times exactly as they are.

What happens to my video?

It never leaves your device. Your browser takes out the sound, and short pieces of it go over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes each piece and discards it. NoteOwl keeps nothing.

Can I change words in the subtitles?

Yes. Open the SRT or VTT in any text editor, make the change and save as UTF-8 so č, ć and đ survive. The numbers and times should stay as they are.
