How it works
How do you translate English subtitles into Korean?
Drop your English SRT or VTT on the page; Korean is already set as the target. Choose Translate subtitles: the text goes out in batches of neighbouring subtitles and comes back in Korean, every subtitle at its original time. Read it through and save.
- 1
Load the file
An .srt or .vtt in English or another listed language, from a channel, a course or an editor.
- 2
Translate to Korean
Subtitles that share a sentence are translated together, then each half goes back to its own subtitle.
- 3
Download
A .ko.srt or .ko.vtt, or a bilingual SRT with the original line above the Korean.
Why do Korean subtitles fill up faster than English ones?
Korean needs about half the characters of English, but a line holds only 16 of them against 42, so on screen it takes about a third more room. With the timing fixed, a long subtitle becomes two full lines, never three.
In our check of ten translated test sentences, eight needed two lines. The date sentence could not fit two lines of the usual length, so it took two slightly longer ones: “회의는 2026년 10월 16일” over “오후 3시 30분에 있습니다.”. Trim words there if your player crowds them.
Do Korean lines break between words?
Yes. Korean puts spaces between its words, and the page breaks only at those spaces, so a particle such as 과 or 가 stays attached, even to a name in Latin letters: “Dr. Patel과 Maria Lopez가”. A short phrase can still be divided, though.
One test line read “선생님들은 여행” on top and “후에 지쳐 있었습니다.” below, splitting 여행 후에, “after the trip”. Moving 여행 down a line in the SRT reads more naturally and changes no time.
Which speech level do the Korean subtitles use?
Polite, with honorifics. Requests came back as “보내주실 수 있나요?” and “you know” as “아시다시피”. Our short test mixed the softer 해요 endings with formal 합니다 ones, while a longer test used 합니다 throughout. Pick one for your video and make the file match.
선생님
“Sir” became 선생님, the same word the translation used for “teachers”. Viewers read it as a respectful title.
No he or she
“Our doctor said she…” became “의사 선생님께서 … 하셨어요”: honorific, with no gender.
Casual channels
For friends talking to friends, 반말 endings may suit better; change them in the SRT.
How are prices, dates and names written in Korean subtitles?
With digits and Korean counters: “2026년 10월 16일 오후 3시 30분”, a 12-hour time marked 오후. The percentage became “6.5퍼센트”, the dollar amount stayed “$1,250”, and Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez stayed in Latin letters.
- The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.
- Korean가격이 6.5퍼센트 상승하여 $1,250가 되었습니다.
- The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.

- Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez will lead the session.

FAQ
Korean subtitle translation: questions
Does translating subtitles into Korean cost anything?
No. You can translate 3 files a day, each holding up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, without an account.
Can I show the English and the Korean at once?
Yes. The bilingual SRT stacks the original line over the Korean one in every subtitle, at the same times: handy for learners of Korean, and for anyone checking the translation.
Will Hangul display correctly in my player?
The Korean file is saved as UTF-8, which current players read. If you see boxes, pick UTF-8 or a font with Korean characters in the player’s subtitle settings.
Are well-known names written in Hangul?
It varies. Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez stayed in Latin letters in our short test, while a longer test wrote famous names such as Raonic in Hangul (라오닉). Make names consistent before publishing.
How good is the Korean translation?
In our test of 50 sentences, translation into Korean scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Speech level, names and line breaks are what to read for.
Will the Korean stay in sync with the video?
Yes. Each subtitle’s number, start and end come straight from your file; nothing is merged, split or dropped.
Is my subtitle file uploaded?
It is opened in your browser. Only the subtitle text is sent, in batches, to a cloud AI translation service that returns the Korean and discards the text; NoteOwl stores neither file.
