How it works

How do you turn English subtitles into Romanian?

Drop the SRT or VTT here; Romanian is the fixed target. Press Translate, and the subtitle text is translated in groups of neighbouring lines, then slotted back under the original numbers and times. Read the Romanian on the page and download the file you need.

  1. 1

    Drop in your subtitle file

SRT or VTT, in English or any other language on the From list.

  2. 2

    Let it translate

Neighbouring subtitles are read together, so a sentence that runs across two keeps its sense.

  3. 3

    Download the Romanian

Romanian SRT or VTT, or a bilingual SRT with both lines in each subtitle.

Will Romanian subtitles use tu or dumneavoastră?

Tu for everyday lines and the polite form for respectful ones: “Can you send me the report?” became “Poți să-mi trimiți raportul…?”, while “Please sit down, sir” became “Vă rog să stați jos, domnule”. For a formal video, turn the tu lines polite.

Are Romanian letters like ș and ț written correctly?

Yes. The translation writes ș and ț with the comma below, the correct Romanian forms, not the look-alike cedilla letters older files sometimes carry, along with ă, â and î. Players that show Unicode subtitles display them as written.

How are numbers and times written in Romanian subtitles?

The Romanian way: a decimal comma, a full stop between thousands, “de” between a large number and the currency, the day before the month and the 24-hour clock. Nothing needs converting for Romanian viewers.

Romanian subtitleÎntâlnirea este pe 16 octombrie 2026, la ora 15:30.

Do Romanian subtitles run longer than English?

A little, in our test. The time of a subtitle never changes, so a longer Romanian line is laid out again in at most 2 fuller lines of about 42 characters, never a third line, broken between words.

What is worth checking in Romanian subtitles?

Mostly gender. In our test, translation from English into Romanian scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with, but “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Doctorul nostru”, a man. If she is a woman, make it “Doctorița noastră”.

Names stay as written in your file, so “Dr. Patel” and “Maria Lopez” come through unchanged.

FAQ

Questions about Romanian subtitle translation

Can I translate subtitles to Romanian for free?

Yes. Translate 3 subtitle files a day into Romanian, each with up to 30,000 characters of text. No account, no watermark.

Which languages can go into Romanian?

English and every other language in the From list, such as French, Italian or Hungarian. With Detect automatically, the page recognises the file’s language itself.

Do the Romanian subtitles keep the original timing?

Yes. Numbers, start times and end times are copied exactly, so the Romanian file lines up with the video wherever the original did.

Can I get English and Romanian in one file?

Yes. The bilingual SRT shows the original line above the Romanian one in each subtitle, at the same time, which suits learners and anyone reviewing the translation.

What if a sentence is split over two subtitles?

It is translated as one sentence, then shared back between the two subtitles, each at its own time. The Romanian halves may not match the English halves word for word, but the pair reads naturally.

Is my subtitle file kept?

No. Your browser reads the file and sends only the subtitle text, in batches, to a cloud AI translation service that translates and discards it. NoteOwl stores neither file.
