How it works
How do you make Hungarian subtitles from an English file?
Drop the English SRT or VTT on the page; Hungarian is already chosen. Press Translate and the subtitle text is translated in batches of neighbouring lines, then each translation goes back under its original number and times. Read through it and download.

Lines are translated with their neighbours, so sentences cut across two subtitles stay whole in meaning.

A Hungarian SRT or VTT, or a bilingual SRT with the original above each Hungarian line.
Will Hungarian subtitles use te or Ön?
Both, which is worth tidying. Our test gave the polite form in “Küldhetné nekem a jelentést péntek előtt?” and “Kérem, üljön le”, but the familiar “tudod” for “you know”. Choose one register for your video and bring the other lines into line.
“Please sit down, sir” came back as “Kérem, üljön le, úr”; a Hungarian speaker would say “uram” when addressing a man directly.
How are dates, times and prices written in Hungarian?
Year first, then month and day, with a hyphenated ending, and the 24-hour clock. Decimals take a comma, and in our test 1,250 was written without a separator. These match how Hungarian viewers read them.
- The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
- Hungarian subtitleA meeting 2026. október 16-án, 15:30-kor lesz.
- The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.
- Hungarian subtitleAz ár 6,5 százalékkal emelkedett, 1250 dollárra.

Can English words slip into Hungarian subtitles?
Occasionally. In the date line above, “meeting” stayed in English (“A meeting…”), where a Hungarian subtitle would more likely say “megbeszélés”. Look for English words left in the Hungarian and swap them where your viewers would expect a Hungarian one.
Do Hungarian subtitles fit in the original time?
Usually. Hungarian ran about the same length as English in our test. Each subtitle keeps its time and gets at most 2 lines of about 42 characters; long Hungarian words move whole to the next line, never split in the middle.
In our test, translation from English into Hungarian scored level with the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Hungarian has no he or she, so “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Az orvosunk azt mondta, hogy holnap visszahív”, with no gender to correct.

FAQ
Questions about Hungarian subtitle translation
Is it free to translate subtitles to Hungarian?
Yes. Translate up to 3 subtitle files a day into Hungarian, each with up to 30,000 characters of text, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Which source languages work?
English, and the other languages in the From list, including German, Romanian and Slovak. Detect automatically recognises the language of the file for you.
Do the Hungarian subtitles keep the timing?
Yes. Each subtitle keeps its number and its start and end times exactly, so the Hungarian file plays in sync wherever the original did.
Can I show the original and the Hungarian together?
Yes. Download the bilingual SRT: every subtitle carries the original line with the Hungarian under it. It’s handy for learners and for checking a translation.
Will accented letters like ő and ű come out right?
Yes. The translation is written with Hungarian letters, including ő and ű, as in “lenyűgöző”, and the downloaded file keeps them.
Is my subtitle file stored?
No. The browser opens it and sends only the subtitle text, batch by batch, to a cloud AI translation service, which translates and discards it. NoteOwl stores neither file.
