How it works

How do you translate an SRT file into Bulgarian?

Drop the SRT or VTT on the page; Bulgarian is set as the target. Press Translate: the subtitle text is translated a few neighbouring lines at a time and written back in Cyrillic under the original numbers and times. Look it over, then download.

  1. 1

    Add the subtitle file

SRT or VTT, in English or another language from the From list.

  2. 2

    Translate into Bulgarian

Neighbouring subtitles go together, so split sentences still read as one.

  3. 3

    Download the result

Bulgarian SRT or VTT, or a bilingual SRT with the original above each line.

Are names written in Cyrillic in Bulgarian subtitles?

Yes. Bulgarian writes foreign names in its own alphabet, and the translation did too: “Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez” became “Д-р Патель и Мария Лопес”. For a brand or a name viewers should recognise in Latin letters, put the original spelling back in the file.

Will Bulgarian subtitles use ти or вие?

Вие, in every line of our test: “Можете ли да ми изпратите доклада преди петък?” for “Can you send me the report before Friday?”, and “Моля, седнете, господине” for “Please sit down, sir”. That suits most videos; a channel that speaks to friends may want ти instead.

How do dates, times and prices look in Bulgarian?

As Bulgarian viewers write them: a decimal comma, the 24-hour clock, and the abbreviations “г.” after a year and “ч.” after a time. In our test, 1,250 was written as 1250, with no separator.

The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Bulgarian subtitleСрещата е на 16 октомври 2026 г. в 15:30 ч.
The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.
Bulgarian subtitleЦената се повиши с 6,5 процента до 1250 долара.

Do Bulgarian subtitles fit the same timing?

Yes, as a rule. Bulgarian ran about the same length as English in our test. Every subtitle keeps its time and is laid out again in at most 2 lines of about 42 characters, split only between words.

In our test, translation from English into Bulgarian scored level with the dedicated translation system we compared it with.

What should you check in Bulgarian subtitles?

Who is speaking about whom. “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Лекарят ни каза, че ще се обадят утре”, with “she” turned into “they”. Where a single person is meant, change the verb to “ще се обади”.

FAQ

Questions about Bulgarian subtitle translation

Is translating subtitles to Bulgarian free?

Yes. 3 files a day can be translated into Bulgarian, each with up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, with no account and no watermark.

Can I translate Russian or Greek subtitles into Bulgarian?

Yes. Russian, Greek, English and every other language in the From list go straight into Bulgarian. Detect automatically works out which one your file is in.

Will the Bulgarian subtitles stay in sync?

Yes. The numbers and the start and end times are kept exactly, so the Bulgarian file follows the video just as the original did.

Can I show the original and the Bulgarian together?

Yes. The bilingual SRT puts the original line above the Bulgarian one in each subtitle. It’s useful for learners of Bulgarian and for checking the translation.

Does the file keep Cyrillic letters when I download it?

Yes. The downloaded SRT or VTT contains the Bulgarian text exactly as shown on the page, Cyrillic letters included.

Is my subtitle file uploaded?

Your browser opens it, and only the subtitle text goes, in batches, to a cloud AI translation service, which translates and discards it. NoteOwl stores neither file.
