How it works
How do you turn English subtitles into Tagalog?
Drop your SRT or VTT on the page, which is set to Tagalog. The subtitle text is translated a batch at a time and slotted back into the original timecodes. Read through the Tagalog, then download it.
- 1
Drop in the file
SRT or VTT, from a video editor, YouTube Studio or an online course. English is recognised by itself.
- 2
Translate into Tagalog
Neighbouring subtitles travel together, so a sentence split in two still makes sense in Tagalog.
- 3
Save it
A Tagalog SRT or VTT, or a bilingual SRT with the English on top.
Do Tagalog subtitles run longer than English?
Yes, noticeably: about a fifth longer in our test. Tagalog leans on small marker words (ang, ng, sa, mga) and long words such as pagpupulong for “meeting”. Each subtitle keeps its time, so the longest come back as two full lines.
Lines aim for 42 characters and break between words, never inside one, and a subtitle never gains a third line. Where a line feels crowded in your player, trim a word or two; the timing is already right.
Will the Tagalog keep English words?
Often, as Filipinos write. Our test lines kept “percent”, “October”, “sir” and “Wow!”, and the wider test kept presenter, toxin and binary number. That reads naturally to most viewers; for a formal or school video, swap in Tagalog terms where you prefer.
When does the Tagalog use po?
Where the English is polite. “Please sit down, sir” became “Maaari po kayong maupo, sir”, with po and the respectful kayo, and “you know” became “Alam niyo naman”. A plain request kept the familiar mo; add po for an older audience.
How are dates and numbers written in Tagalog subtitles?
Mostly in English style, as many Filipino videos write them: “October 16, 2026, sa ganap na 3:30 p.m.”, “6.5 percent” and “$1,250”. If your channel writes months in Tagalog, change October to Oktubre and the like in the file.

How well does English translate into Tagalog?
In our test, translation from English into Tagalog scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Siya means he or she, so “she” needs no choosing; the checks worth making are names, figures and how polite each line sounds.
Recording the English versions yourself?
NoteOwl on a Mac transcribes English recordings with unlimited transcription and saves SRT subtitles with each speaker’s name, a ready starting point for Tagalog subtitles here. The app doesn’t transcribe Tagalog; for Tagalog speech, use the Tagalog subtitle generator.
FAQ
Questions about Tagalog subtitle translation
Is it free to translate subtitles to Tagalog?
Yes. 3 files a day, each with up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, with no account and no watermark on the result.
Is Tagalog the same as Filipino here?
Close enough for subtitles. Filipino, the national language of the Philippines, is based on Tagalog, so Tagalog subtitles suit Filipino viewers across the country.
Can I put English and Tagalog on screen together?
Yes. Choose the bilingual SRT: every subtitle carries the original line with the Tagalog below it, which helps viewers who move between the two languages.
Can Korean drama subtitles go into Tagalog?
Yes. Select Korean as the file’s language, or let the page detect it, and the subtitles come back in Tagalog at the same times.
Does the translation keep italics and speaker names?
Italics around a whole subtitle stay, and a speaker’s “Name:” at the start stays in front of the Tagalog. VTT styling and on-screen positions are dropped.
Where does my subtitle file go?
Nowhere but your browser. Only its text is sent, in batches over a secure connection, to a cloud AI translation service that returns the Tagalog and keeps none of it; NoteOwl stores no file.
