How well is spoken Bulgarian understood?

Well. In our test, Bulgarian speech was transcribed cleanly and the English made from it rated good. Clear voices give the best subtitles; background music and people talking at once leave gaps, and a misheard word is translated as heard.

How do Bulgarian times, units and places read in English subtitles?

As English viewers expect. “8:46 сутринта”, in the morning, became “8:46 a.m.”, “км/ч” became km/h, and well-known places spelled in Cyrillic came back in their usual English form. Less familiar names are spelled by sound, so check those.

Точно в 8:46 сутринта…

…105 мили в час (165 км/ч)…
English…105 miles per hour (165 km/h)…

Why are the English subtitles laid out differently from the Bulgarian?

They are cut after translation, so they follow English sentences and the speaker’s pauses. Bulgarian and English ran about the same length in our test, and every English subtitle has at most 2 lines of about 42 characters.

Can you download the Bulgarian subtitles too?

Yes. Switch to Original for Bulgarian subtitles in Cyrillic, laid out by the same rules, such as “Круизите до Санкт-Петербург” over “включват и време в града.” Offering both lets Bulgarian and English viewers each pick their own.

Working with Bulgarian videos regularly?

NoteOwl understands Bulgarian on your Mac: it imports MP4 videos, transcribes them with unlimited transcription and saves SRT subtitles with each speaker’s name. For Bulgarian subtitles only, use the Bulgarian subtitle generator.

For a Bulgarian video that already comes with subtitles, translate the file itself with the subtitle translator; its times stay exactly as they are.

Questions about English subtitles for Bulgarian videos

Is the Bulgarian to English video translator free?

Yes. 3 videos a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account and no watermark. English SRT and VTT and the Bulgarian subtitles are included.

Does it dub the video into English?

No. It writes English subtitles. The video and its Bulgarian sound are left exactly as they were.

How do I watch the video with these subtitles?

Open the English SRT from your player’s subtitle menu, or name it like the video and keep both in one folder so the player loads it by itself.

Do the subtitles name the speakers?

No. The web tool’s subtitles contain only the words. NoteOwl on a Mac labels speakers and can save SRT subtitles with their names.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Only its sound goes, in short pieces, to a cloud AI transcription service, and the Bulgarian text to a cloud AI translation service. Both discard it; the picture stays on your device.
