What does NoteOwl’s Bulgarian transcript look like?

Here’s a sample recording, and NoteOwl’s transcript of it, unedited. On this sample NoteOwl matched 94.8% of the characters (punctuation and spacing aside).

The recording · 0:44

A short work call between Росица and Георги. NoteOwl detected the language by itself.

  1. Здравей Георги! Как върви каталогът за новата колекция? Здрасти! Снимките са готови. Текстовете също. Остава само корицата.

In English: Hi, Georgi! How’s the catalogue for the new collection going? Hi! The photos are ready. The texts too. Only the cover is left.

  2. Добре, колко броя ще печатаме? Печатницата предлага 1000 броя на добра цена, но, честно казано, не знам дали ни трябва толкова. Нека да са

In English: Good, how many copies are we going to print? The print shop is offering 1000 copies at a good price, but, honestly, I don’t know if we need that many. Let’s make it

  3. 500, ако свършат, ще допечатаме. Съгласен. Тогава до сряда ще изпрати окончателния файл на печатницата. Чудесно, аз ще

In English: 500. If they run out, we’ll print more. Agreed. Then by Wednesday I’ll send the final file to the print shop. Great, I’ll

  4. направя и електронна версия за сайта. Добре, само ми кажи дали курицта ти харесва преди да е пратя. Прати ми е днес след обед и ще ти отговоря

In English: also make an online version for the website. Okay, just tell me whether you like the cover before I send it. Send it to me this afternoon and I’ll answer you

How does NoteOwl write numbers in Bulgarian?

Both ways, in this sample. The voice said хиляда and петстотин, and NoteOwl wrote 1000 and 500 in digits; the time stayed in words, до три часа (by three o’clock). Print runs, prices and quantities stand out in the transcript as a result.

The rest is standard Bulgarian Cyrillic with commas, exclamation marks and question marks, including the full definite article where it belongs: каталогът, печатницата, снимките.

What did NoteOwl get wrong in the Bulgarian sample?

Mostly short words. The pronoun я (it) came out as е, twice, so преди да я пратя became преди да е пратя; изпратя (I’ll send) became изпрати (he’ll send); корицата (the cover) became курицта; and следобед was split into след обед. 94.8% of characters matched.

The names, the numbers and all but one noun were right. When you check a Bulgarian transcript, read the short pronouns and the first-person verb endings first; that is where this one slipped.

Do I need a Bulgarian setting?

No. NoteOwl identifies Bulgarian from the audio itself. The Spoken language menu in Settings → Auto-Context exists to pin English, Hindi, Spanish, French or German; for Bulgarian, keep it on Auto-detect.

The trap is English. It is the menu’s first value on a Mac whose system language is English, and while it is pinned, dictation and meetings are decoded with Latin letters only, so the ъ in каталогът could never appear. Imported recordings skip the menu entirely.

Can NoteOwl learn Bulgarian names and product terms?

Yes, through Pro vocabulary. Enter what NoteOwl produces and what it should be, such as курицта → корицата, and new transcripts use your spelling. A rule looks only for the whole Cyrillic word, never for letters inside a longer one.

Bulgarian attaches the article to the end of a noun, so каталог and каталогът are different words to a rule. Add each form that comes out wrong.

Where is Bulgarian transcription useful?

Bulgarian is the national language of Bulgaria and one of the EU’s official languages, with around 8 million speakers. The recordings people bring are calls with agencies, printers and suppliers in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, team meetings and interviews.

Is Bulgarian speech to text free in NoteOwl?

Yes, for dictation. Speaking Bulgarian into any app is free and unlimited, forever, like voice notes. Meetings, imported recordings, summaries, Chat and custom vocabulary are part of NoteOwl Pro.

NoteOwl Pro is $79 once for one Mac, with a 7-day free trial in the app and no card. Everything runs on your Mac, with the same on-device AI models on both plans.

FAQ

Questions about Bulgarian transcription

Is Bulgarian dictation free?

Yes, without limits. Tap fn in any app, say it in Bulgarian, tap fn again, and the Cyrillic types at your cursor; voice notes are free as well. Meetings, imports, summaries, chat and memory are Pro, paid once at $79 per Mac, with a 7-day in-app trial and no card.

Does Bulgarian transcription work offline?

Yes. Transcription happens on the Mac, so after the models are downloaded it needs no connection. Dictating on Auto-detect or importing for the first time can pull one more model part, so do each once while you are online.

Will NoteOwl recognise Bulgarian automatically?

For imports, always. For dictation and meetings, when the Spoken language menu is on Auto-detect; pinned to English, the Cyrillic won’t come through.

Can I import a recording in Bulgarian?

Yes, with Pro or the trial. Drop an m4a, mp3, wav or mp4 onto Transcripts or use Import Recording. NoteOwl works out that it is Bulgarian, transcribes it locally and separates the voices.

Does it work for meetings in Bulgarian?

Yes, with Pro. NoteOwl takes the sound from your mic and your Mac, so there is no bot among the participants, on any call app. You end up with a Bulgarian transcript per speaker, plus a summary and action items.

How accurate is NoteOwl in Bulgarian?

The sample on this page scored 94.8% of characters, punctuation and spaces excluded, and its misses were short pronouns and verb endings. Try your own recordings during the trial.

About NoteOwl

NoteOwl is private AI meeting notes and memory for the Mac. It captures meetings without a bot joining the call, labels every speaker, writes summaries and action items, and builds a memory of every conversation that you can chat with — fully offline, because the speech recognition and the AI run on the Mac itself. Dictation into any app is free; Pro is a one-time purchase.
