How it works

How do you put English subtitles on a Romanian video?

To translate a Romanian video to English, drop it here. The page lifts the sound, transcribes the Romanian, translates every line and lays the English out as subtitles on the Romanian timing. Download the English SRT and use it with the video.

English SRT or VTT; the Romanian subtitles are under Original.

How well does Romanian speech turn into English subtitles?

Strongly: in our test, Romanian speech gave some of the best English of all the languages we tried. The usual slips sit in names and rare words, which the transcript may mishear and the English then repeats, so read those before publishing.

How do Romanian times and dates read in English subtitles?

Times keep the 24-hour clock Romanian uses: “ora 08:46” became “08:46”, not “8:46 a.m.”. Dates and event names are put into English order, and Romanian phrasing becomes plain English.

For an audience used to a.m. and p.m., change times like these in the SRT; nothing else in the file has to move.

Why don’t the English subtitles break where the Romanian ones do?

Because the English is laid out after translation, following English sentences and the speaker’s pauses. English usually needs a little less room than Romanian, so its lines are often shorter; each subtitle has at most 2 lines of about 42 characters.

Can you keep the Romanian subtitles too?

Yes. Under Original you’ll find Romanian subtitles of the same speech, laid out by the same rules: “Compoziția acestor cristale se potrivește” fills one line. Publishing both serves Romanian speakers and English speakers from one upload.

FAQ

Questions about English subtitles for Romanian videos

Is the Romanian to English video translator free?

Yes. 3 videos a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account and no watermark. English SRT and VTT and the Romanian subtitles are included.

Is the video dubbed into English?

No. You get English subtitles; the Romanian sound and the video stay exactly as they were.

How do I watch the video with the English subtitles?

Give the SRT the same name as the video and keep them in one folder, and most players load it automatically. Otherwise, add the subtitle file from your player’s subtitle menu.

Are speakers named in the subtitles?

No. The web tool writes only the words. NoteOwl on a Mac labels speakers and can save SRT subtitles with their names.

Is my video uploaded?

Only the sound, in short pieces, to a cloud AI transcription service; the Romanian text then goes to a cloud AI translation service. Both discard what they get, and the picture stays on your device.
