How it works

How do you add Croatian subtitles to an English video?

To translate an English video to Croatian, drop the file here. The browser takes out the sound, the English speech is transcribed and translated, and the Croatian is cut into subtitles that appear as the English is spoken. Download the SRT or VTT for your player or channel.

  1. 1

    Choose the English video

MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and more. The picture is never sent anywhere.

  2. 2

    Croatian subtitles are made

Speech to English text, then to Croatian. Up to 30 minutes of each video.

  3. 3

    Download SRT or VTT

Or switch to Original for English subtitles with the same timing.

How do Croatian subtitles look on screen?

Much like English ones: Croatian came out about as long as English in our test, so it gets the same room, up to 2 lines of 42 characters, shown long enough to read at 17 characters a second. Č, ć, đ, š and ž count as one character each.

Lines break between words, preferably after punctuation, and the layout avoids leaving a one-letter word such as “i”, “u” or “s” at the end of a line. A date like “16. listopada” isn’t read as the end of a sentence, so the day normally stays with its month.

How are dates, times and amounts shown in Croatian subtitles?

As Croatian viewers write them. “The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.” became “Sastanak je 16. listopada 2026. u 15:30 sati”, and “$1,250” became “1.250 dolara”: the 24-hour clock, the Croatian month, a full stop for thousands.

Croatian subtitleSastanak je 16. listopada 2026. u 15:30 sati.
Wow! That’s amazing!
Croatian subtitleVau! To je nevjerojatno!

Will viewers be spoken to formally?

Yes. The translation used vi in all our test lines, including “Can you send me the report before Friday?” and “Please sit down, sir”, which became “Molim sjednite, gospodine”. That fits tutorials and company videos; a casual channel may prefer ti.

What should you read before publishing the Croatian?

Three things viewers notice: vi where ti fits better, a woman introduced only as “she”, who may come back as a man (liječnik, rekao), and names, which stay as transcribed. In our test, English into Croatian scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with.

Publishing videos in English and Croatian?

NoteOwl understands Croatian and English on your Mac (see the languages): it imports MP4 videos, transcribes them with unlimited transcription and saves SRT subtitles with each speaker’s name. If the video already has English subtitles, translate those in the subtitle translator and keep every original time.

FAQ

Croatian subtitles for English videos: questions

Is the English to Croatian video translator free?

Yes, for 3 videos a day of up to 30 minutes each. No account, no watermark; the Croatian SRT and VTT and the English subtitles are all included.

Does it dub the video into Croatian?

No. You get Croatian subtitle files and text; the video and its English soundtrack are left untouched. Upload the SRT beside the video, or burn it in with an editor.

How do I add the Croatian subtitles on YouTube?

In YouTube Studio, open Subtitles, choose the video, add Croatian as a language and upload the SRT with timing. Viewers can then pick Croatian from the subtitles menu.

Will the Croatian match the English subtitles one for one?

Not necessarily. The Croatian is cut into subtitles after translation, following its own sentences, so it can have a few more or fewer subtitles than the English, each still timed to the speech.

Can viewers in Bosnia read these subtitles?

Easily, as the languages are close, but the subtitles are written in Croatian: listopad for October, nevjerojatno for amazing, where Bosnian writes oktobar and nevjerovatno. For a Bosnian audience, choose the English to Bosnian page.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your browser takes the sound out of the video; short pieces go to a cloud AI transcription service and the English text to a cloud AI translation service, each discarding it afterwards. The picture is never sent, and NoteOwl stores nothing.
