How it works

How do you add Danish subtitles to an English video?

To translate an English video to Danish, add it to this page. Its soundtrack is transcribed in English and translated into Danish, and the Danish is split into subtitles that begin when the English words do. Download the SRT and pair it with the video.

  1. 1

    Add the English video

MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM. Your browser reads only the sound from it.

  2. 2

    Danish subtitles are built

Transcribed, translated and timed in one run. Each video may be up to 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Save SRT or VTT

The Danish file, or switch to Original for English subtitles on the same timing.

Will Danish subtitles fit the pace of the English?

Yes. Danish ran about the same length as English in our test, so the subtitles rarely crowd. They are laid out in Danish: up to 2 lines of 42 characters, 1 to 7 seconds on screen, long enough to read at 17 characters a second.

The Danish is cut into subtitles after translation, along its own sentences and the speaker’s pauses, so the Danish set may have a subtitle or two more or fewer than the English one.

How are dates and times laid out in Danish subtitles?

As Danish writes them, and kept together. “Mødet finder sted den 16. oktober 2026 kl. 15:30.” came out as one subtitle, broken as “Mødet finder sted den” over “16. oktober 2026 kl. 15:30.”, with the date and time on one line.

The full stop after “16.” and the one in “kl.” aren’t read as sentence ends, so neither cuts the subtitle short. One more test sentence wrote the time with a full stop, “kl. 8.46”; choose colon or full stop and keep to it.

Do Danish subtitles show prices and units the Danish way?

Yes. “6.5 percent to $1,250” became “6,5 procent til $1.250”, with a decimal comma and a full stop between thousands. Kilometres per hour appear as “km/t” and millimetres as “35 mm”, as Danish viewers expect.

The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.

Wow! That’s amazing!
Danish subtitleWow! Det er fantastisk!
Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal.
Danish subtitleTja, du ved, det er faktisk en ret stor ting.

Is du right for Danish viewers?

Yes. Danish addresses nearly everyone as du, and the subtitles do too: “Kan du sende mig rapporten inden fredag?” Speaking to a crowd, they switch to jer, as in “Tak til jer alle for at komme i dag.” There is seldom a formal register to fix.

How good is English to Danish translation?

Very good: in our test, translation from English into Danish scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Watch the video once with the Danish subtitles on, looking at names and figures, before you publish.

Publishing videos in English and Danish?

NoteOwl understands Danish and English on your Mac. It imports your MP4 videos, transcribes them with unlimited transcription and saves SRT files with each speaker named. If you already have English subtitles, the subtitle translator turns them Danish and keeps the timing.

FAQ

Questions about Danish subtitles for English videos

Is the English to Danish video translator free?

Yes. Translate 3 videos a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account and no watermark. Danish SRT and VTT and the English subtitles are included.

Will the video get a Danish voice?

No. The page makes Danish subtitles only; your video file stays exactly as it was. Upload the SRT alongside it, or burn it in with an editor.

How do I upload Danish subtitles to YouTube?

In YouTube Studio, open Subtitles, choose the video, add Danish and upload the SRT with timing. Viewers can then pick Danish in the player.

Can Norwegian or Swedish viewers use the Danish subtitles?

Some will follow them, as the three languages are partly mutually intelligible, but a Norwegian or Swedish audience is better served by subtitles made on the English to Norwegian or English to Swedish page.

Is my video sent to a server?

No. The browser takes the sound out of the video and sends short pieces of it to a cloud AI transcription service, then the English text to a cloud AI translation service. Each discards what it gets; the picture stays with you.

Can I publish English subtitles too?

Yes. Under Original you can download English subtitles, timed to the same speech, and offer both languages.
